In my opinion, North Korea does not pose as a legitimate threat to the US/World. North Korea (according to the video we watched in class) does not have the firepower to take on the US, let alone the resources to survive the repercussions. So, if Kim Jong Un is in any way intelligent, he will not attempt to nuke anyone because North Korea will be wiped off the world. However, this being said brings the possibility of a chain reaction of nucular weapons being deployed for the purpose of defense or retaliation, causing sides to be taken and a 3rd world war taking place, in this case North Korea would indirectly be a threat to the US and the World.

Will they attempt to attack the United States? Probably not, based on the logic and facts above I think Kim Jong Un is just doing this as a way to be remembered as someone other than the horrible leader who has 40% of his population malnourished. As Drake once said, "trigger fingers turn to twitter fingers" and it represents this topic because Kim Jong Un uses the media to flex even though he won't do anything because he doesn't want this smoke. Overall, North Korea is not a threat to anyone.

In my opinion, I do think that North Korea poses as a legitimate threat to the US and its allies. North Korea may not have the most and best firearm, but North Korea happens to be friends with the US's enemies. So countries like Russia, who don't get along with the US, and do get along with North Korea can potentially be very threatening. Also, with a madman dictator like Kim Jon Un, the US should not take his threats lightly. With his power and determination, he can make anything he wants happen.

While North Korea is a dangerous country and is led by an insane ego-maniac, they do not pose a major threat to the security of the US. The North has the 4th largest military in the world, yet the amount comes almost solely on infantry, since if you are not apart of military service in the country, you lose many human rights and your overall state of living is decreased. Even if the United States went to war with the North, it would be a very quick and brutal war, which would create severe Northern casualties and cause instability for the entire region.

Kim does not have a leg to stand on when he makes these threats. The world will turn against them and they won't only have to protect themselves from the onslaught of the US, but all the countries that form the United Nations. Without military support from China, North Korea's days as a threat are numbered.

However, I believe that they as a country are biting off a little more than they can chew. The missiles they have cant reach farther than alaska, putting the majority of our nation out of their range, but only for a moment, soon they will discover ways to shoot farther. Because of this I believe an immediate attack is necessary to prevent the loss of American life in the near future.

Between the numerous failed tests resulting in the missile falling back down on their own people, and the lack of range on the missiles that they do have, there's nothing they can do to prevent the USA from shooting down their missiles and retaliating most likely destroying everything North of the parallel.

In my opinion I do not believe that North Korea poses an immediate threat to the US, but their threats are not something that can just be ignored. I don't think that the problem of North Korea will just go away if ignored, so it's something that needs to be dealt with, but it isn't something that Americans should be freaking out about. Currently North Korea only has one IBM that could maybe reach Alaska but would have to be fired at such a low angle that it could be shot down before reaching America. North Korea don't currently have the technology to be able to out one of their hydrogen bombs on an IBM that could reach America. The biggest problem is North Korea's ability to bomb South Korea and Japan which would kill many people, including many US troops.

A threat is, "a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done." - Google Dictionary. North Korea has broken rules, and acted violent since 1996, when they armed the demilitarized zone that lies on the border of North and South Korea.

I believe North Korea is a contained threat for the moment. The North Korean government has a habit of displaying as much power as possible in an attempt to intimidate others. Because of this, I believe that currently they pose little threat to the U.S., as they're overplaying their hand to buy time for them to actually develop such long range missiles. With time however, I believe that they will amass enough nuclear warheads to attack and cripple the united states.

I do not believe that the North would actually attempt to use these missiles however, but merely use them for leverage to get sanctions taken off of them and gain leverage over surrounding countries. I believe at the moment the best plan for the U.S. is to develop ballistic missiles which could stop an atmospheric nuclear attack from North Korea and other hostile nations.

Although "the reclusive North conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test on Sept. 3 in defiance of United Nations sanctions," this is probally just to intimidate other countries and show their power. They have been making threats for a while, but haven't followed through with them.

Even though North Korea has the ability to attack other nearby countries, they will probably not do it, because they know that this would very likely lead to nuclear war. By definition a threat is a intention to cause damage. recently North Korea has made massive strides in nuclear warfare. according to Reuters article " North Korea threatens to reduce United States To Ashes and Darkness " they have just created an intercontinental missile that flew over japan. If one of these missiles were to hit the west cost in a heavily populated city would cause a war and destruction, and the use of massive nuclear technology which could cause issues involving multiply countries. This is why I think North Korea is a ligament threat.

Every time that Kim says something that might signify that he wants to go to war people get scared and pull their money out of the stock market and the Japanese must be under a lot more stress then we are and that must mentally fatigue them, knowing at any time they could be in the middle of what seems like war at any time. “This announcement is extremely provocative and egregious. If he is able to build a reliable ICBM then not only are countries like Japan at risk but whole cities likes LA are also at risk. The US must respond to this threat with more threats to North Korea. Kim Jong Un has built his nuclear program to exert pressure and have the means to deter other nations that could keep him from attaining his objectives; these being the reunification of the Korean peninsula, the survival of his regime, or the strengthening of North Korea's political influence. But by no means is Kim Jong Un about to suddenly drop a bomb on us because he happens to be kind of crazy. Contrarily, I believe he is very deliberate and rational. North Korea has been proliferating ballistic missile materials to other countries, one of them being Syria. The spread of nuclear weapons is a very serious threat to the world. So North Korea is not about to directly attack us, but they are about to create an abundance of serious issues. Bombing us would be their last resort to us not complying to their wants, and we would definitely be able to expect it then.

Is North Korea a nuclear threat? To the U.S mainland it is not but to the surround countries like Japan and South Korea that we are allied North Korea is a huge threat. As of right now North Korea has no way to reach and damage the mainland of the U.S, however they can reach U.S owned territories in the Pacific like Guam and even Hawaii and some parts of Alaska. Even if Kim tried to "reduce the U.S. mainland into ashes and darkness" he knows he couldn't and we would put him in the dirt. But the threat that "The four islands of the archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche" should be worrying South Korea and Japan. For now the Security Counsel has reduced North Korea's trade by banning their textile exports (North Korea's second largest export) in an attempt to weaken the country but ended up shaking the hornets nest with the country threatening to burn the U.S and mobilize their military to "vent their spite". We have to accept that North Korea is dangerous to East Asia and needs to stop, either with a peaceful solution, or war.

In my opinion North Korea is not a legitimate threat to the united states. According to BBC news, since 1993 North Korea has made 13 threats to the united states, however they have yet to actually follow through with one. North Korea has yet to make a missile powerful enough to hit our homeland and while its possible they could hit Alaska, they know the consequences. The fact of the matter is, if North Korea were to strike Alaska, we would have the firepower to do much more than fight back. In addition Kim Jong Un knows launching missiles would start a full on Nuclear war involving multiple nations which even he couldn't ever justify.

I believe that North Korea is not a legitimate threat to the United States, as of right now. I believe that in a few years when their bombs are more advanced, that they would be a threat to us, but even then they wouldn't because we would destroy them. "The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea." This is a quote from our president, Donald Trump. He said this because he knows its true. If North Korea ever attacks us , it would be suicide. They have one ICBM, and we have thousands. Kim Jong Un is not a threat to the United State because he is bluffing. He's made numerous different threats and he hasn't acted on a single one of them so therefore I don' think he is going to do anything.

North Korea serves as a legitimate threat to America and it’s allies. They have threatened to “sink” Japan and deliver the United States to Ashes and Darkness. Time and time again North Korea has launched Missiles over Japan and into the Pacific ocean. It’s time we consider them dangerous to not only our allies but our nation as well. They have stated they can reach Alaska with their newest ICBM. A threat is stated to be a “ statement or intention to inflict pain, injury, or damage, or other hostile action.” The leader of North Korea ( Kim Jung Un) has Stated many times that they will destroy and harm both the United States and its allies. North Korea may not have a huge number of long-range ICBM’s, however they do have a build up of scud missiles in their arsenal (scud missiles are directed towards short-range targets such as South Korea or Japan) in fact, some U.S. assessments conclude North Korea has produced or can make around 30 to 60 nuclear weapons.
