serious mood swings. A person with bipolar disorder experiences alternating
“highs” (mania, or low levels of serotonin) and “lows” (depression, or high levels of serotonin).

Etiology: Predominantly a biological disorder that occurs in
a specific part of the brain and is due to a malfunction of the
levels of serotonin. Environmental factors play a role in the appearance of
symptoms.
Treatment: Lithium, Antidepressants, Antipsychotics, and Anticonvulsants

Suicidal thoughts or intentions may also be present.

Etiology:

   -Biological and environmental factors.

   -A deficiency in serotonin can cause depression.

Situational factors

 For example: lack of support system, stress, illness in self or loved one, etc.

Treatment:

  - Prozac, Paxil, Wellbutrin, and Zolaft.

  Prozac is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) this means that it helps prolong the mood lifting effects of serotonin by preventing it from being reabsorbed back into nerve cells in the brain.
