This week was heavily steeped in music creation. We continued working on our exploration projects where we used Logic Pro to create an original composition using all of the discoveries we made. Several members of the class explored using UltraBeat to create steady rhythm tracks, while others deciphered the use of EQ to sculpt the sounds in their pieces. We hit a few creative roadblocks, such as finding out tracks wouldn't fit with one another due to rhythmic differences, as well as several times we had to troubleshoot the MIDI equipment we used.

We concluded the week watching how Skrillex and Diplo make a song and their own creative process in making electronic music. We discussed how this could transfer over into our own music creation and how technology has changed how we make and listen to music.

This week we were into showing our class the projects that we created using Logic and also starting our remixing project using Soundtrap. The week first started off with us finishing our projects and Mr. Bernstein frying us and helping us make final adjustments on our Logic song project. There was some adjustment I found myself making. Such as putting to many sounds in a short period of time. I need them to be more spread out and give every sound some more time to do its thing. Instead of bunching them all together in one minute. I also made adjustment on my piece with automation with sounding instrument in and out instead of them just stopping out of nowhere. After adjustments were made we went on to our listening day. We listened to all our peers music and talked about what we were trying to make. There was a mixture of music House, Old Jazz, Techno, some Old Rock, and Hip Hop beats. After listening to some of there songs out loud and in front of people including me my classmates realized some more adjustments we had to make to our projects. But first we had to understand the next project we were on to. Which is making a song on Soundtrap and having one of your classmates remixing it. First it requires learning a different DAW. Soundtrap and Logic are both trying to create different sounds but using different instruments. So now were onto our next project using Soundtrap and trying to learn how to use it and create a song that someone could remix.

-Matt D

a.k.a "Mix Master M"
