1855 was the first time European history was recored on Te Atatu Peninsula. This was a purchase of a large block of land, by Henderson and McFarlane from the crown. This inclued Lincoln Road, Te Atatu and a large area of henderson. This section was probably used for farming and living on.

1870-1894

The land was subdivdied couple times in the past but first sales were recorded in 1870.Probably to more familys and farmers needing the land.In 1894 is when the first aution was held in Te Atatu Peninsula. Leading more people to selling some on the land.

1900

Roads started getting formed and house were built. The wharf at the end of wharf road also started being in use. But was more difcult due to the unpredictable nature of the tides.

The name of Te Atatu Peninsula was first known as henderson point but got changed to what we know and love it as Te Atatu Peninsula. Which tranlated into english is 'The break of day' or 'The dawn'.

1910

10 familes started a methodist chruch together.Counting as the first chruch of Te Atatu Peninsula.

1930-1950

Te atatu was growing rapidly! Soon enough there was 50 houses and a comunity hall open to the public.

In the 1600 the Maki tribe moved and lived in Waitakere area, In the early 14th Century. That's over 400 years ago!

When some of the Maori people moved to Te Atatu they found the soil that lay at the feet of Te Atatu's people was superior for planting food, such as Kumaras. As well as great fishing spots, now a wharf lays were those good fishing spots were.

War was on the shore.3 men from Te Atatu joined to fight. In 1942 Amercians built 5 towers which can be found on Gunner Dr. Which is now a very signficant part of Te Atatu.

I have lived in Te Atatu for most of my life and have met some great people that also live here.I believe that Te Atatu will always be a home to me.

theres lots of green area showing, parks, dog parks and reserves.
Theres a place for everyone, schools, RSA/Bowling club, tennis club and etc.
No matter where you are there is water.
The amount of walkways for anyone to use.

What is a landmark?

A Landmark is something that holds significance wiether it is cutrual or historic. Also needs to be open to the public.A Landmark can be natural and manmade.For exmaple the Wanaka Willow tree is natural vs. The Whale Tails that are planted around New Zealand are manmade. So it can be both.

The Wharf, and beaches are unique because of the nice grassy areas around the beach, a great place to sit and have a picnic!
Crazy dancing lady, brings a smile on peoples face. A lady who goes dancing every morning, her real name is Mel.
Farm Land, it holds great areas for taking a walk or something like the pony club.

One Manmade and one natural. With the reasons.

My manmade landmark is the whale tail this is located next to Liqour Land. The Whale Tails to me are a historical event in art, since many differnt artist get to think outside of the box.Plus get to show more people their art.

My natural landmark is the pony club, it is located at the front entrance of Te Atatu Peninsula. This is community runed which has quite a special place in my heart.

Family's connection

My extended and close family doesn't have any connection to Te Atatu 'Peninsula'. None of our family lives there. But I live in Te Atatu 'South'. And none of my extended family live even remotely close to Auckland.
