UPDATE PP: While the soundtrack I did have wasn't used it did help create a certain tone and ideas surrounding the scenes and the characters.

Tunetank has offered us a plentiful amount of tracks that were both suitable and somehow perfectly fit within the editing timeline. Their music only requires appropriate crediting which can easily be added.

ADR is available and a room can be booked out on the New Adelphi Booking website.

UPDATE PP: I learnt an incredible amount about editing sound, more than I knew initially. Fixing audio and what is the appropriate level to scale it was unfamiliar territory and I feel that this information is extremely helpful in projects.

Ambience tracks can be recorded or requested by the sound team.

REQUESTED: Adam & Tia (Sound Team) to create TV programme sound effect while Wayne watches TV in Scene 4.

UPDATE PP: Unfortunately I didn't receive or was made aware of any files for the Scene 4 TV. I used an "old" radio project from my first year module called "The King's You Have" it featured Joseph Healey (Editor & Data Wrangler), Joe Fairbrother, Kyle Heywood (PA & Set Dec) & Myself. Its a Small Easter Egg that those involved would recognise.

SFX Editing We tested a plethora of SFX throughout the editing process and debated on whether or not to keep certain ones, Scene 1 was interesting we had to build the tension up in this stereotypical horror troupe, I utilised a string crescendo, hearts and insidious violins to make this a hilarious yet frightening build of tension with that scene.

UPDATE PP: ADR wasn't luckily required as the audio was perfectly fine, Lily (SALLY) worked with Adam (Sound) to record Sally's Inner Thoughts and i added those files to the timeline.

Start by creating a playlist and matching songs to the script. Additionally matching songs to characters based on appearances and personality might help.

UPDATE PP: Our soundtrack was completely Royalty Free courtesy of Tunetank and their artists, we focused around a Jazz as it helps to elevate the comedic elements and but help ease us through the film.

Its also a neat addition to our overall short film as it sounds incredibly higher in quality.

I started by adding a string crescendo & drum beats to Jeff's Cantonese segment this would be the start of multiple layers but sets the start for the tension we wanted to build in this scene.

Moving forward, I began working on the sound effect for the logo which was difficult to pull off as I used a tornado sound effect and had to raise and lower the pitch/pace for the spinning logo we had. Finishing it off I added a gong during the cut to black.

After this is I adjusting audio levels & fixed any audio issues difficulty i found was Wind in certain scenes but different effects made to reduce these made the audio files sound off. I knew I would be revisiting on Day Two as it just needed extra raising and consistency across the board.

As we went scene by scene I added music tracks to the timeline and focused on fading them in and out, reducing or raising them as dialogue began or ended.

The Chase scene's music track needed splicing to get to the punchier bits quicker so I did some track editing using symbols to transition into new different sections of the song and it turned out great, it sounds and looks smooth and carries the scene lifting up those comedic moments.

Luckily for Scenes 7 & 8 the music fit in perfectly, i did some adjustments and tweaking but they sounded great. the main thing here was adding reverb onto the ends of the scene 7 track which I did using adobe audition, I did this on multiple sound files its a neat trick and something I know for the future, creating silence and adding reverb is a great idea.

Finally, we watched it back as a full video and I was satisfied with the work that had been completed, i knew there was plenty of touch ups needed to do and I wanted to complete scene 1 first.

Issues: Scene 1 and 5 have slight audio issues however there is a feature I am unable to use on the software called 'enhance speech' so Khieng Ly will be implementing this after Day Two is complete.
