I think this is a very important musical element. This concept explains that rhythm is innate. It's in almost every song, and allows us listeners to feel like a story is going along, all while feeling protected by this force. Typically, it's throughout the entirety of the song as the 'main' beat or the main part of the song, so it's something to relate back to. This technique can be used to link ideas throughout the song, as in talking about a certain idea during each set of different rhythms.

This exemplifies rhythm, the same beat is overlaid throughout the entire song, with slight variations. This is what rhythm is all about - every so slightly changing the beat/melody and creating something new that the listener can identify throughout the song.

In this song, the beat is very dark and ominous. The beat has a continuous scream going throughout it, but is broken up a few chords before the next rapper comes in, where the next verse is slightly higher pitched than the last. What this means for the listener is that it easily identifies itself and allows the listener to be comfortable with the song
