2. Hiring more support for students, other than just specifically teachers, like counselors and staff, to support students' mental health. Using the money to build more modern classrooms (a bathroom in each classroom, etc.). Using the money to give teachers resources for what they might need for their classroom. Giving students more outdoor learning opportunities, building outdoor classrooms and different play areas for them to explore. Funding after school programs like clubs that can help students with their careers or learn life skills.

What can schools do to mitigate the effects of poverty? 

First, schools need to identify any barriers to successfully mitigate poverty. Then they need to identify the major needs. Oftentimes when combating issues people start too big and can end up being unsuccessful. By creating a plan of action with clear steps it will be easier. It is also important for the school to talk to its community members to see what the community needs and how the community can help. The first steps would be to meet students' basic needs by providing meals and personal care items such as toothbrushes/ toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, etc. It would also be important to provide devices and access to internet so students are able to access their learning materials and do their school work.

If you had unlimited funding for your school, what would you do? 

We would provide free meals to all students, offer free school based health clinics, as well as provide school supplies and devices to all students. We would also provide before and after school care for students whose parents need to work.
