We learned a lot about apparel this year. We learned different ways to sew and repair your clothes, also that companies charge way too much money just for a piece of fabric. In different religions you might wear certain clothing. When wearing clothing remember to wear something that makes you comfortable. You might want to dress to impress, in this case you might wear a dress or a suit. Something more formal.

We spend most of our lives consuming food, to help nourish our bodies. So wouldn’t it be helpful to know what’s being put into our bodies, and what benefits us the most. Knowing about nutrition will help your body stay healthy, because you want to consume what is most beneficial for you. But knowing about food can help you learn about allergies, which food is bad for you, and what could help you, say for example you are a diabetic.

In order to keep a relationship healthy, you need to have trust. If you don’t have trust then you don’t have anything. If there is a problem, you need to communicate about it to resolve the issue. Relationships can still be strong though if you two have your differences at the end of the day. What matters the most, is that both of you are there for each other. To support each other, and not use each other.

This year we used teamwork a lot. Teamwork is when members of a group work together to accomplish a goal. This was essential for us in FACS, many of our projects required teamwork. If it wasn’t for teamwork in the beginning of a tougher task, nothing would become accomplished.

Family can be whatever you want see as your family. Whatever people you are comfortable with or live with. There are different types of family structures but none of them are “normal”. No one can call a family normal because all families are different. Families are like flowerpots, they break in many different ways but sometimes can be glued or taped back together even if they aren’t exactly the same. No matter how broken they are, they can still grow.

Goals are used in everyday life all the time. Whether it’s a diet, a work assignment, or working out, you will always have a goal, but did you know goals are harder to achieve when it’s not a S.M.A.R.T goal? Specific, Measurable, Achievable Relevant, Time limited. S.M.A.R.T goals with these characteristics are easier to follow through with. For example, one of my goals at the end of the year was to make at least one friend in every class by May and now I achieved that goal! I mean look, there’s Michael my bestie.

Everyone at some point is a consumer in their life. You buy groceries? You’re a consumer. You buy clothes? You’re a consumer. Basically if you buy it, you’re a consumer. As a consumer you have to pay for what you buy. To have money, you have to have a job and have a budget to make sure you have enough for necessities like food or bills. A budget is a plan for your money after every paycheck, like 40 dollars to food and 100 for rent and other things like that. Sometimes, you budget well but something unexpected happens like your car breaks down. What can you do? Well, if you have a savings account in the bank you can take money from that or take money from a different budget. My mom sometimes takes money out of the cat food and litter budget.

We communicate with other human beings all the time, but they aren’t in the best way. Some people physically fight when angry. During an argument it’s better to talk it out than to argue back and forth stating the same thing over and over again. It’s important to listen as well as respond to what they say and explain how you feel about it or your response. If you argue without listening, no one wins and if you physically harm them or vice versa no one wins so why not try to be polite and courteous.
