(1) One of my favorite tips from Ellyn Satter that "Children who are good eaters have positive attitudes about eating, they are able to learn to like and enjoy the food that is available to them, and they are able to intuitively eat as much food as they need to give them energy and to grow appropriately".....as long as adults maintain the Division of Responsibility.

(2) One "kid-friendly" recipe that includes vegetables is the a dish of "Sesame Chicken with Peppers and Snow Peas"

https://eatfresh.org/recipe/main-dish/sesame-chicken-peppers-and-snow-peas#.XcOWITJKib8. The snow peas, I find, is a favorite amongst children because snow peas or snap peas are crunchy and rather sweet. When dipped in ranch, kids go crazy for them! I think this type of vegetable combines deliciously with some type of protein such as chicken or beef cut into small pieces. --> makes this recipe kid-friendly because the tastes, textures and bite sizes are catered to children

This connects farmers to their communities via farmers' markets, stores, schools, and food banks to name a few. A child can learn more about agriculture in understandable terms on this site with cute cartoons! Learning about where their foods come from can increase interest in food types, science and cooking. https://learnaboutag.org/

Because, kids will learn that vegetables are super nutritious, necessary for good health and more sustainable to consume than meats and other processed foods.

(5) 1. According to the California Department of Public Health, it's good to wash vegetables thoroughly before eating and cooking to prevent consumption of pesticides and fertilizers that are not meant for human consumption. This is especially important when cooking for children because children's weaker immune and digestive systems are more susceptible to food-related illnesses. 2. Also, WIC site says that pregnant women should consume more fiber and iron in order to obtain folic acid that is critical for healthy fetal growth development. Mothers who consume more vegetables during pregnancy are more likely to birth children who have palettes more inclined to try vegetables as the vegetables flavor the amniotic fluids. This sets the child up to try, like and enjoy vegetables.

(6) To explain and show THREE TIPS on how to get kids to eat and enjoy vegetables, a quick Google resulted in an onslaught of facts and off-the-beaten path strategies. From hiding vegetables in sandwiches to sneaking them in salty soups and grilled cheese sandwiches, these strategies might certainly effective be in the beginning when children who hasn't been exposed to the strategies gladly try the foods. But, remember, CHILDREN ARE INTELLIGENT and they will catch on. Not only do these methods refute the need to establish healthy division of responsibility in feeding and eating, but children also do not learn the try reasons why vegetables should be given a shot for the good of their health. Here are three of my personal strategies gathered from personal experiences in feeding and eating, and from my observations with children:

Use technology such as iPads and cartoons that children can relate to and think are interesting to showcase how vegetables are crucial to one's health and the planet Earth. For example, connect why eating a plant-based diet is beneficial to the Earth.

(8) This TEDx TALK discusses how the "ugly" appearances of some vegetables and fruits do not alter their nutritional content and value. So the question is, why are mots people biased against imperfect produce? Why do people spend so much time at the store turning over tomatoes and apples in search of the most "flawless" one? That slightly bruised one has the same vitamins, fiber and minerals. What's a world that prioritizes flawless produce? Is our world becoming more wasteful by discounting this category of produce? POINT: Something to keep in mind as we educate children about the benefits of vegetables and fruits, and why we need them.
