1. I believe PD would be more engaging if we were lead by teachers within the district who understand the climate of our classrooms and were more interactive/hands-on rather than lecture style.
2). I believe I do a good job incorporating various types of activities that incorporate many different types of learners. In addition, I incorporate the arts (music, dance, chorus, and visual art) through hands-on activities that get my students moving.
3). In my classroom I have found that these two strategies are the most effective for classroom management:
a). Praise the good/attempts and celebrate improvement (AKA: make it a big deal when kids do something right).
b). Don't tell; ask questions (Ex: Could you tell me what happened?, What is your relationship like with that person, etc.). Allow the student to share their perspective and share their thought process (or lack there of).

1) I believe PD would be more engaging if it was content specific and led by someone who is familiar with our student body. If we learned more annotating text examples with math it would be more beneficial.
2) I am getting better at DLE integration (Mastery Connect, Moby Max, Khan Academy) and keeping students on task during different activities.
3) My SmartBoard always has posted exactly what we are working on, whether it is a workbook page, link online, video, etc. I also use the "sad box" as a management strategy. This box is posted on my front board and all the students can publicly see when discipline starts to kick in.

1. I am going to echo my peers and agree that PD would be more beneficial if we're broken into departments and led by our district coaches.
2. I'm good with student engagement through collaboration and through arts integration.
3. Effective classroom management comes from knowing my students well. I recommend always greeting them in the halls with a smile and asking them what's going on at lunch. This respecful rapport goes a loooong way. In the classroom, keep serious reprimands one-on-one and let the student know that his or her further behavior will determine the consequences. This agency of power for the student often snaps him or her back into compliance.

1. PD should be led by people who have taught the content area effectively.
2. Class Discussions and some DLE.
3. Treating students with respect even when they're not meeting expectations. Asking students to step outside to calm down and have a discussion where there is no audience of peers.

1. PD needs to be something we can use ASAP and something that we haven't already been trained on or are fully aware of. It also should be short and to the point, so we can take the information and integrate it into our classrooms.
2. I have gotten better at using the laptops for engagement and games several times a week for review and a quick, formative assessment- like Quizizz and Quizlet Live. I've also had some success this week using Blendspace, Pixton, and Powtoon to create political cartoons.
3. Not arguing with the student over what they did nor did not do. Nobody wins. I've also saw success with some difficult students with positive reinforcement.

1. PD could be more engaging if it was done in smaller groups. I also think PD should reflect the material being taught. Ex. If the PD is on "Blended Learning" the session itself should be done in a blended way.
2. Technology has really helped. I'm using the station rotation model with my grade level classes. I have some of the kiddos doing E2020, so I can work with smaller groups of students.
3. Remain calm. Remember that you are the adult. I always try to remind myself that if someone else gets you upset, they've won. Being clear and consistent with expectations. Know when to choose your battles. Is Student B wearing a hood on while he is working worth causing a situation that Student B no longer wants to work?
