Istanbul
The Basilica Cistern is the largest of a series of cisterns built in the Byzantine period, in the 6th century.

Curiosities


Turks always think of others and are kind and generous to their neighbors, when they make delicious food or delicious sweets they always send a full plate to their neighbors.  After you return the dish, they send it back with another type of food.


Before entering houses, mosques and temples, remove your shoes and leave them outside.  Turks never enter the premises with their shoes, to maintain cleanliness and avoid bringing street dirt into the premises.

Another tradition that seems very funny is that Turks do not give or receive knives from someone, because they believe that this increases the probability of having a fight in the future with the person who gave you the object.  There's a way to hand over the knife, you put it on the table or somewhere else, and then the other person takes it.  If by accident a Turk took a knife from the hand of another Turk, it is necessary for both of them to spit on the knife to avoid the negative effects in the future.

When a woman's husband dies, she must marry his brother if he has a brother, and neither can refuse or refuse this marriage.
