Context: The text revolves around hopes to stop the end of the world. The main characters are angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley. The demon Crowley has brought Satan' s son to earth and placed him in a loving human family, but with the growth of Satan' s son comes the end of the world.
Aziraphale and Crowley have fallen in love with life on earth and are trying to prevent the end of the world happening.

Principal characters: The principal characters in the story are angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley. The story features the parents of the child who is exchanged for satan' s son and the nuns who accept the birth.

Age and historical context: The story takes place in England- in modern world which is not set in a specific year.

Brief retelling of the contents: Long, long ago, it was planned that the end of the world would come with the arrival and growth of satan' s son in the world. The demon Crowley gave satan' s son to the nuns on earth to be exchanged for a human child immediately after birth. The demon did his part, but he wasn't satisfied, because he realized that he liked living on earth and he didn't want the end times to come. The demon Crowley turned to the angel Aziraphale for help with a plan to stop the end of the world and the two began working on the plan together. 

Associations: This is the first story I have read on such a topic, so for me this story does not form associations with any other book, TV show or film. 

My conclusions: I haven't come to big conclusions yet, but in the text the demon said that he doesn't see much sense in the evil they do in the underground, because people on earth do more harm to themselves, it made me think about how people treat each other and themselves. 

Questions that came to me while reading: The only question I had while reading the text was- what happened to the real child that was born to humans?

Character's look consistently with their actions: The demon character is dressed in dark clothing, drives a Bentley, wears sunglasses when they are not even needed, seems frivolous.
His image is very much in line with his actions. 
The image of an angel is down to earth, helpful, dressed in light clothes, looks appropriate for his actions- kind and pleasant. 

Description of the location: the story is written about events in England, the city looks normal without any peculiarities. 

What could happen next: I have already started reading the sequel, so I already know that the son of satan will name the "dog" sent by hell and probably the end of the world will have already begun.

How my attitude towards the heroes changed based on their actions: I have started to like the character of the demon, because instead of being happy that the end is coming, he tries to stop it. 

How my attitude to the world changed: As i mentioned before, this text makes me think about people's attitude and things that people do. 

My point on the text: I believe that no one is born good or bad, we all face different events during our life and how we let them affect our future and actions depends only on us.

Language of the text: there were words in the book that I could only understand from the context, it was the same with the TV series. 

I had to translate some of the words, because I wanted to make sure if i really understood the text and the author wrote some words/ sentences in incomprehensible English, so I had to reread the sentence several times to understand what was written there. 

Words/ expressions I learned: clandestinely, connoisseurs, naval, prophecies, unobtrusive.

4. On the way, they accidentally knock over a girl on a bicycle and Aziraphale insists that he and Crowley will take the girl home.
5. They take the girl home, get to the exchange place and realize that it is no longer hospital, but a hotel where people also play paintball.
6. They make a big ruckus and the police are called, but they manage to question the former nun.
7. They go back home and on his way out of the car Aziraphale finds a diary in Crowleys car that belonged to the girl they took home.
8. Aziraphale starts reading The Book while the girl is back home looking for it and hoping that if the book is with them, they won' t understand what the book is about.

2. Were you surprised by what happens in this chapter? Is there anything what you expected to happen but didn't?
There were no big surprises, I had seen the TV series before i read the book, so i knew what would happen, even though this chapter was not really described in the series and the events happened differently.
3.Describe a conflict and identify it as internal or external?
I didn't really understand what kind of conflict the question is about, but if the question is about the conflict that Crowley caused between people at the place of exchange, then i think it was an internal conflict.
4. What is your developing impression of the characters at the end of the chapter?
I like Crowley's character more and more with each chapter because he is actually very nice and kind inside.

7. What does the author want us to think or feel after this chapter?
The author wants to leave the readers in the dark and with thoughts about how Crowley and Aziraphale will now find the right child, as well as leaving readers wondering why is the book that the girl left behind so important.

What is your developing impression of the characters at the end of the chapters?
1. As i stated in my previous reading journal, with every chapter i like Crowley's character more, because i understand that he is not actually the " bad guy" he is actually one of the good ones.
2. My feelings about Aziraphale are unchanged, I already understood from the beginning that he is the "good character", i don't really like or dislike him at the moment, but his character seems a bit boring to me, because it is constant.
3. I like Adams character, because he doesn't know his purpose yet and he doesn't show any evil or anything like that, he's just a normal kid.
Are new themes introduced?
In these chapters there was a lot of focus on witches and witchcraft, especially because of the appearance of Anathema and her book. I personally have never liked such topics, so i'm not keen on them, but at least these themes expand the story a bit.
New words that I think i should learn:

2. Precipitous- done suddenly and without careful consideration.
3. Vehemently- in a forceful or intense manner.
4. Disparaging- expressing the opinion that something is of little worth.
5. Reluctance- unwillingness to do something.
6. Thwarted- prevent someone from accomplishing something.
7. Instigation- process of making something happen.
8. Prophecies- predictions.
9. Sophisticated- having a great deal of worldly experience and knowledge of culture etc.
10. Disdainful- showing lack of respect.

Dialogue:
'Hallo' he said, unslouching.
She blew her nose and stared at him. What was looking over the hedge should be described at this point. What Anathema saw was, she said later, something like a prepubescent Greek god. Or maybe a Biblical illustration, one which showed muscular angels doing some righteous smiting.
'Who' re you?' she said.
'I'm Adam Young,'said Adam. 'I live just down the lane.'
'Oh. Yes. I've heard of you, ' said Anathema dabbing at her eyes.

I think this dialogue is important because it starts the whole "friendship" of Adam and Anathema and after this dialogue they started talking more and came to common interests, which were discussed further in the chapter.
Considering that Anathema was crying the moment Adam started talking to her, he spoke very calmly and kindly to find out what had happened to the girl, while Anathema spoke a bit confused.

Passage:
She herself had short red hair and a face which was not so much freckled as one big freckle with occasional areas of skin. 
Pepper's given first names were Perpper Galadriel Moonchild. She had been given them in a naming ceremony in a muddy valley field that contained three sick sheep and a number of leaky polythene teepees. Her mother had chosen the Welsh valley of Pant-y-Gyrdl as the ideal site to return to nature.

 In this passage we get more info about Adams friend Pepper. She is mentioned all through the story as one of his best friends and this passage we finally learn more about her than just her name.

  • What was the most important part of these chapters? 
    • I think that the most important parts of these chapters are that the antichrist-Adam is not actually level but a normal human child who doesn't want the world to end, and the revelation that the possible grand plan for the end of the world did not even exist, but it was more like a test of human nature and actions and what they will do when they learn that they have this huge power. 
    The ending of these chapters highlights the power of choice, the importance of friendship and cooperation.
    2. What scene from the chapters resonate with you the most on a personal level?
    The scene where Adam the antichrist has a self-discovery moment and the self-discovery value because he discovered what his role in this whole story was, but he refused to fulfill it and chose to determine his own path in life, I personally believe that it is very important to listen to yourself, spend time with yourself and get to know yourself not relying on what other people think of you or what you should do in life.
    3. What challenges do the characters encounter and how do they deal with them?
    Embracing free will-mostly reflects on Adam when he has a choice to do what he was made to do or to reject his predetermined role. 
    4. Does the plot proceed in a logical way to a conclusion?
    Yes, the plot proceeds in a logical way.
    5. what questions do you still have about the plot?
    I don't really have questions about the plot, i have questions about the book in general because i don't understand why the book had to be stretched out so much by adding extra characters and events that didn't really matter that much in the end.
    6. Have your personal views changed because of this book? 
    No, my personal views haven't changed in any way.
    7. What 3 songs did you think of while reading this book? 
    1. " Sympathy for the Devil" by The Rolling Stones.
    2. "Another one bites the dust" by Queen.
    3. "The end of the world" by Skeeter Davis.
    8. Does the title hold up to the way the book unfolds?
    Not really, i think the title should have been something with "End of the world, or is it?" or something about the good and bad collaiding into something greater.

    10. Would you recommend this book to others?
    Personally, i wouldn't recommend this book to others, because i didn't find it interesting, but maybe for people who like this fiction type of books it was good, but i like dramas, criminal detectives and novels better, so this book just wasn't my cup of tea.
