This can be daunting, but it also means that there is more people on the same course as you that you could try to make friends with :) 

The work is more independant and in-depth in university than in college, many courses consisting of essay based assignments. 

You may have been able to talk to lecturers often in college due to the smaller class sizes. It is okay to talk to your fellow students and tell them that you are a direct entry student, meaning that you do not know anyone yet. They may just show you around or start up conversation!

You could also try to talk to your fellow students when doing group work. If you can regularily contact your family or friends at home, this may help.
You could also try to explore Aberdeen and find things here that you enjoy. Doing this with others may help you to feel at home in Aberdeen too! 
Joining a club or society or going to an event may help to make some friends if you are struggling with this. Finding a friend can often help with integrating into university. :)

Lecturers are happy to answer emails and help you to improve your performance - just remember to be nice and polite.

Assignments in college and university can be different, they often have different marking criteria. You can ask your teachers what they expect you to show in your assignments, perhaps they may give you guidance on how to critically evaluate or write academically. You can sometimes see the basic marking guidelines for assignment that outline the requirements for each grade. Such as an A grade requiring accurate referencing, or more detailed evaluation than B grades.
