• Fake news/misinformation and digital gambling —> addiction and lack of filtering out whether media is factual or not.

• Future careers being affected by AI. Leniency on AI creates the fear of being replaced. The use of AI needs moderation.

• Injustice…justice is not equally served. Innocent lives are being treated unfairly.

• Youth feels unsupported. Manpower to do service from the youth is lacking making it disappointing for the future generations.

2nd question: Fear and Hope

• The fear that stems from the youth’s feeling of lack of insecurity. What’s in store or left for the future generations to hold?

• We are reminded that hope is not wishful thinking but a promise from God that He will always be there for us. He will never abandon us.

• Relying on AI had made us forgot how to function in society.

3rd question: Conclusion/Take Action/Takeaways

• The CPNE is an avenue for us to express our experiences that allows the Church to represent our challenges, especially that of the youth.

• The youth must be prayed over to have guidance, specifically on making decisions on their own/when their parents are not around. Better decisions for a better future (discernment)

• Youth empowerment is highly important. The youth must be empowered to use their voices. This can be done through youth programs.

• Gen Z as a whole is much more vocal and connected because of social media. If we stand together, we can truly make a difference, no matter how small or big it is.

• Time management - Use of social media has enabled the youth to procrastinate.

• The role of the family is very important in each person since it helps our faith and morals to progress.

• The Family is a fundamental formator of an individual's personality and life for even though some families are not built equally, if an individual would take his experiences within the family in a positive manner, it would greatly develop him.

• In the experience of hopelessness one thing that man can hold on to in finding hope would be the most fundamental thing that he has, a family.

• Although there are different professions with their own respective struggles, the search for meaning prevails amidst hopelessness. For if we search for meaning even in the simplest ways, even in the most simplest of jobs, like mine where I serve the hospicio; even though my job isnt grand, it makes me happy seing I help other people and this gives me meaning

• For me, even though when we are the ones who preach about hope, we are also the ones who experience hopelessness yet, even with this we shouldn't be discourage since God will always guide us back to the hope we preach

• What motivates my hope is the mission I bear and for me, being a missionary whose charism is the youth, we, the community of missionaries, find our hope in the gospel which touches different people and of course the people specifically since I experience being evangelized by the people I meet especially the faith of the kids

• In the realm of natural family planning, whenever I am able to do my work properly I know and I am sure that I am able to help families grow properly and manage themselves accordingly and this gives me hope

• There are times when I feel burned out since the responsibilities I carry being an elementary teacher are sometimes tough to bear. So, I find hope in the support that my organization and close people give me and of course with my faith

• I have been struck with a tragedy as my live in partner died recently and I find hope in God amidst my hopelessness

• Sympathy also helps with hope. Service requires sympathy especially with the life I take as a religious sister

Amidst the battles we face, the daily pains we have to carry, and the tragedies we have to overcome, we continue to find Hope brought upon by our choice to genuinely answer Christ's call, no matter how big or small. Yet, within our mission to spread the hope brought about by Christ it is evident that we too are not invulnerable to the feeling of hopelessness and one answer to this can be found within the act of crying. In the act of crying we show our truest selves, our deepest sorrows and our highest joys. Thus when we find ourselves amidst hopelessness let us cry out to God, reminding us that we cannot bring ourselves out of the hopelessness we face for it is by his grace that we are saved.

Synodality is not merely a concept or a slogan, but the living experience of the Church—an ongoing journey marked by heartfelt dialogue, shared experiences, and communal discernment. Through open, heart-to-heart conversations, we deepen our understanding of hope, especially as we encounter it in others' stories and struggles.

Hope is not passive wishing, but an active commitment—rooted in faith, nourished by the Eucharist and sacraments, and lived through service to the Church and others, even in difficulty. It is most powerful when we ourselves are at rock bottom, yet still choose to give, serve, and walk patiently with others. This perseverance, though challenging, becomes a living witness of hope that inspires and uplifts.

Our mission demands unconditional dedication and the courage to keep sowing seeds of love and service, trusting that growth will come in time. As we help restore moral values in our communities, we also pray and work for a renewal in vocations—young people who are inspired to follow Christ and serve the Church wholeheartedly.

This shows that when we listen deeply, even another person’s pain becomes a mirror for grace and healing.

The Holy Spirit, through this honest and compassionate space, is leading the community toward a Church that listens, walks with the wounded, and brings light into darkness. Signs of hope include the growing awareness that the Church and our faith are not just rituals but a source of strength for daily life. The youth especially see themselves as bearers of hope—called to influence others by living out God’s love and truth. In a world of judgment and despair, the Spirit is forming a community that chooses to see each other not as problems, but as part of the promise.

Work - hopeless mess for the others for being as an instrument to lose or demote the jobs of my co-workers

Church - hopelessness for the leaders of the. Ministries as they don't know how to listen to others. Hopelessness for the leaders of the Church.

Family-hopelessness and tea not knowing the right path or future of my family.

1. Yanna - She's distant with God and she believes that God always welcomes us even if we distant ourselves to God.

2. Nicolas - He believes in the saying "As long as I breathe, I hope" every struggle is a lesson in life and another day to strive.

3. Prince - Hopeless because his class ranking went down and He's striving to get to the top again.

5. Jupiter - He's from Province and they are hopeless because the church is far from their houses and they are too lazy to go to the church, but now he's an altar server.

6. David - Hopeless to study again, because after his graduation he didn't go to college instead he started working for his family. He still hopes to become a Catechist.

7. Patricia - She's hopeless because she suffered from violence and Her sister ran away from them. Her Family wants her to stop serving God.

8. Bryan - He stopped studying because of financial problems and his father is suffering from sickness.

9. Jessa - She's struggling because of her academic problems, because she doesn't think that she wants her course anymore.

Part 2 - Sharing

1. Yanna to Everyone - She realizes that the problems of others are bigger than her problem.

2. Nicolas to David and Bryan - He realizes that he's lucky because he's studying unlike them that they needed to stop studying.

3. Prince to David and Bryan - He is also grateful that he didn't need to stop studying unlike them, and to Yanna because sometimes he's too lazy to serve the Church.

4. Max to David and Bryan - He's lucky because he has the privilege of studying and has a complete family.

5. Bryan to David - He realized that David is lucky because he's able to provide his family needs, unlike him that he needs to take care of his sick father.

One in hope meaning we should not go beyond the holy spirit , and we should always trust His process and be patienti in waiting

Journeying together as a synodal church. That in life sometimes we failed to balance it. But we should always balance the love we received from God.

This session leads us to discover that life is a wonderful journey that brings our experiences as a lesson for others.

As a result of communal discernment, we would like that the Family and Life Ministry and PWD Ministry be strengthened to be able to address the concerns of children and the PWD community. The group believe that there is a need for these 2 ministries to continue what they have started but has to be mindful of the need to listen to the youth/children's as well as PWD sectors so that their real concerns and needs will be addressed.

The group firmly believes that the mission of the Church for these two vulnerable members of the Church is timely and relevant. May God continue bless the Church with good leaders and faithful workers to work on these.

The decline in religious vocations, lack of catechists, and growing influence of social media reflect deeper issues rooted in family life and faith formation. As shared by the sisters, many young people are losing their sense of calling due to poor guidance at home and the normalization of sin. Amid these challenges, there is hope. The Holy Spirit calls us to return to the roots — to empower families, strengthen parental guidance, and provide meaningful formation that nurtures faith and vocation. By planting seeds of hope in the home, we revive the future of the Church.

1) What experience of hopelessness today affects me. What is telling me

Fear in taking the Exam, lost hope in passing the exam, nothing is impossible with prayers. There's hope in prayer

Broken family, fear of marriage because of what happened in the family, fear that her child might also experience it. 

First choice: to enter the seminary but the family wants him to work and help them first. Now, taking up microbiology. Then he will pursue Philosophy and  also experience Law school , needs trust in oneself 

Challenges of being a student leader, disrespected in school, lack of family support because she was elected as Auditor than a president 

Poverty, subhuman living conditions , vulnerable to different complexities 

2) the professors brought them to depressed area and saw their realities, their family had covid that's why he was not able  to continue being a student leader , now he is pursuing a degree in microbiology and an executive director for research committee

I'm not alone in being hopeless. Even if they're facing challenges, there is still hope

Despite a lot of pressure, but the courage to reach one's goal. Not to let others discourage you

Never allow our seemingly hopeless situations to put us down, but to have hope in the Lord

Community outreach to poor kids, give books, coloring materials, taught poor kids to talk, saw their progress. Her parents treat her like how their parents treat them

Summary:

Based from the experiences of my fellow groupmates:

One of the first moments where they felt hopeless was with their first friend, it got to the point where they got very close. Their friend was having problems with their boyfriend and they were aware because she saw the red flags in what their friend was doing so they confronted them about it but their friend took it in a bad way.

This was a recent experience, it was between them and their boyfriend, their boyfriend made them choose between him or their best friend and obviously they chose their best friend because marami silang pinagsamahan, and it became the cause of another problem, rumors started spreading and it became their darkest moments, but it made them closer to God and eachother.

One of my experiences, it made me find hope and get closer to God. When I was at G5-8 I really don't have any friends, well I have pero not the friend that people normally have so because of that I became so distant towards people. but when it came to 9th grade i found myself fitting in with a group of people which made me grow closer with them and become the person i am today.

It was during a Scouting duty, their leader assigned them a very hard task that required a lot of responsibility, but they weren't able to do it well so it left them fearful of their leader, years had passed, he became the scout's Vice vice chairperson but he became pressured because he was afraid he wouldn't be able to handle this position well because his past leader wasn't able to nurture his skills well, but his mother and scoutmaster gave him advice that he has to do whatever it takes, and that gave him hope.

One of Their most hopeless experiences was when they became a leader for their club and their leader gave them a hard task, they failed to do that given task and so their leader didn't trust them with their leadership skills anymore and made them question about their leadership skills aswell.

One of their experiences where they became most hopeless was when their parents divorced, their dad mostly spoke bad about their mom but he doesn't agree to that, they live with their grandparents and they always think highly of them which gave him academic pressure, until they joined the Altar servers which is where they found their inner peace and helped them grow the better version of themself which is who they are today.

2. Summary:

One of the experiences my whole group can relate to is Academic Pressure that is usually caused by the expectations of our parents, whenever we achieve something high they always think really highly of us which causes them to think that we're good at everything which causes pressure and burn out.

3. For me, i think the path that Jesus wants for me is that I should be more open about my own experiences and avoid beinging shy to fit in with others.

I should trust him and consult him about my options instead of leaning onto myself.

To become an altar server which led me to become more open and become close-minded to the things they say about me.

To let myself engage with more positive people.

To have the courage to continue being responsible.

To be closer with the members of the malate Catholic parish and to be more open and communicate more with them.

Jummel: He is hopeless that he will celebrate his birthday with sickness or any bad thing. But he still tries to expect the best for his upcoming birthday.

Kassandra: She feels hopeless on that she's in senior highschool and she'll loose her ranking and won't be able to organize her schedule along with handling the student council.

Paul: He felt hopeless because when he was in the seminary, he knew that his father passed away. It really affected him to the point he decided to leave the seminary and worked and cleared up his mind.

Alaine: She felt helpless that she won't be able to succeed the expectations of others being the class president of the year.

Jummel: He relates to both kassandra and alaine because he is also a student. He always has the mindset that he should always be the standard to show everyone that he can do it. He really struggles to adjust in going to senior highschool.

Kassandra: She relates to jummel and alaine, but mostly on Alaine. She's really pressured that she won't be able to maintain her ranking because since she was kinder, she was rank 1. Another is being pressured on senior highschool that she's always in school and won't be able to adjust well.

Paul: He can resonate to the 3 because he was also once a student and a president. He realized that not all the problems should be a big deal. Not everyone is the same. We all feel hopeless but can still stand up again and have hope.

Alaine: She said that she can resonate to everyone because she felt the feeling of loosing someone important in her life. Another, she can resonate to the students aswell as she feels pressured. But she always believes that there is still hope not now, not tomorrow, but soon.

Jummel: He feels that the holy spirit is leading us to have hope is to the people who believes in him. He feels that those people can give him the hope he needs to go on to life.

Kassandra: She feels that the holy spirit leads her to have hope by seeing our community where it has become more opened minded. And that's where she feels that there is hope.

Paul: He feels that the holy spirit leads him to have hope by the people who surrounds him. He thought that he would have no other friends from outside the seminary. But he saw that he can make more friends to help you in your everyday life. God still guides you despite the sins you committed. He had hope to see that he was able to connect to more people.

Alaine: She said that the holy spirit guided her to be in the community in the Church. It showed her and a community can help her have hope in life.

We strongly felt that God is telling us:

Round 2:A lot of things were in common, our faith broke through the challenges that we faced in everyday life through prayer and serving in religious organizations.

Round 3: We all believe that new paths are opening up for us, we want to remove the obstacles that block our way. With God, we can face through the challenges that we face in everyday life.

Our group were brought into a sharing of personal discernments in our vocations from an ex-seminarian, postulant sisters, and parents who are serving in their respective communities. Everyone has its own share of testing their faith from filial challenges up to the ministerial struggles. We hereby concluded that whatever happen, tataya pa din kami sa Diyos. Ano't anuman magbabalik pa din sa Diyos for there's always grace amidst all uncertainties.

WHAT EXPERIENCE OF LONELINESS TODAY AFFECTS ME? WHAT IS TELLING ME?

Hopelessness is an experience not exclusive to any person, whether they be secular or religious, participant or serving, youth or elder. What struck out most from our group, though, is that we shared alot of our experience in hopelessness as Catholic leaders: whether that be in attempting to resonate with the youth of today, support and accept our families' choices and experiences within the faith, and go through our own lives in the pursuit of common survival outside of the Church. As one member notes, however, what we can learn, though, is that so long as we persist, especially with our faith towards God, we are able to get through hopelessness and become closer with God.

WHERE CAN I RESONATE FROM THE SHARING OF MY COMPANIONS? WHAT STIRS ME? TOUCHES ME? MAKES MY HEART BURN WITHIN ME?

We reiterated much of what we already shared, and we collectively agreed on our common theme of family and how we are to deepen the faith through that basic unit of the Church. We restate how being evangelized starts at the home, and how parents are the primary model of their children within the faith. For us to truly encapture the youth's minds as stewards and pilgrims of hope, we have to focus on really enhancing those that are their examples. This means, not only evangelizing children, but also adults. Truly, everything starts from familial education, and with that, we can continue working up our communities towards a true path onto a greater relationship with God.

WHERE IS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADING US AS A COMMUNITY OF HOME? WHAT SIGNS ARE EMERGING?

With the introduction of a new Pope and the holding of the Jubilee, we meet today in the one of the most modern points of the Church. Our path with the Holy Spirit is clear — we are headed to a more connected and evangelized Church so long as we are able to harness our technology for the good of our communities. As our Church now begins to use the Internet as her tool for spreading Christ's word, we can expect then that hope will continue to increase, and with that, the gifts of the Holy Spirit will truly continue to be spread throughout the body. As the faith continues to grow, we'll be able to grasp these gifts and become closer to God.

• Cathecist disengagement unfortunately because of Parish priest, from 36 down to 9 due to implemented process, spiritual support not provided to the group, mistreatment

• Care for the environment, often neglected, feel there are so many issues at hand but so little to make a difference

2. Where can I resonate from the sharing, what touches me, makes my heart burn?

• Comment about being “expert” in catechism; more appropriate term is “experienced with the grace of God

• Participant being new to service; remember that Church is a hospital of sinners

• Students receiving catechism, usually have issues/problems at the house, usually grade 6 have wrist wounds/slashes

• Catechism ministry is least favorite amongst parish priest

• Children nowadays, no discipline, no value in cleanliness

• Patience, long journey, extensive study to be a cathecist

• One catechist share she is handling more than 30 classes from kinder to grade 2

3. Communal Discernment- Where is the Holy Spirit leading us as a community of hope? What new path might be opening up? ACTION PLAN.

• Guide own family members to grow in faith

• Being an informal catechist to own children

• Continuously ask guidance from the Lord, Holy Spirit

• Regular purposefully check in with the group ministry, officers at the very least coordinator/president

• Mandate Pastoral Visit of Bishop to do skip level check in with the group ministry coordinator (not happening in some parishes)

• Despite and inspite, Padayon lang! Be a blessing to others, for the glory of God.

Joseph - attention to be paid for the individualism

Rose - journeying together, individualism, division between people around even family,  gadgets problem, disunity, pray for the synodality as one family, help one another in recognizing our identity as a Christian, a family member

Jane - individualism, how we reach out the younger generation, challenges on gadgets, how we evangelize the younger ones, problem solving system, younger ones

Sister - “I don’t care!” Problems begins at home —— Education. It’s not my business, I don’t care! How can we go with that kind of attitude? Can we change something there? Immersion with the poor, we can’t abandon them. Nationalism, how can I and how should I love my country. They feel not at home. Family awareness, education begonia at home, learning begins at school. Present situation in the country is like that, I want to be rich then I don’t care who is poor. Individualism begins at home. What can we do to awake the parents? What can we do with this MYSELF?

Bro. Jojo a seminarian before: Actively working from archdiocese of cubao, I am one of the theme regarding synodality. Empower leadership,evangelists. Planning for the next 5 years of Cubao is to back to basic. Create a leaders,after empowering leadership with one action we can attain the goal which synodality. And to that the role of the holySpirit is vital. Our altar servers and other servant are getting old. It is not us but it is Christ. I am stage 4 cancer survivor which is I found out on my birthday. Darwin spoke “you are healed believed in Christ and trust him. Darwin one of the street children adopted by a priest.

Ms. Ching: As a Catechist in the parish I found out that many people are uncathechized. Catechists should be the parents. Interrelationships. To know Jesus through the family. The teachers don’t care. Adult catechism.

Florentina - learn more catechism myself.  I force myself to learn more. Catholic practice by the people. Children are being FORGOTTEN, no attention is paid to them. Be catechized before going to Evangelize people. Permission for the parents for the children to be catechized is necessary. The misinformation from the heretical teaching in the society.

Ms. Garcia - continue what we have started - Padayon. Volunteer, catechists, educators, to be educated first before educating. Teach by example. Action speaks louder than the words.

Ms. Felin - BEC, effects brought by different movements in the history, what can we learn from the past? Encouragement is important. Sharing the brotherhood in God with everyone.

Ms. Berhemiah - the kind of the attitude the children show, the kind of the family reflect. Catechists have a great responsibility. The parents just give all to the school and the church. Teaching in the school is far from the practice at home. The problem of the people being Uncatechized. Why we want to be baptized? Many don’t know.  We should give catechesis to the young parents so that they will teach their children as well.

Ms. Zoraida - different methods in catechism to be applied IN TIME. What is basic. Formation is important.

Life has unearthed profound moments of despair COVID 19 bringing illness, death, and uncertainty to families personal battles with sickness like cancer or tuberculosis emotional emptiness and vocational crises; the pain of a broken family or pastoral weariness. These trials stirred questions like “Has God abandoned me?” and “What is my purpose?” In these times, it felt like God was silent, yet through grief, loss, and vocational unclarity, something deeper was taking root: grace.

B. Points of Resonance

In sharing these struggles, several unifying themes emerged: the search for meaning, the struggle to serve and teach without clear solutions, the emotional toll of family and professional responsibilities, and the journey of emptiness as a spiritual doorway. What resonates deeply is the resilience shown by others (“kung kinaya nila, kakayanin ko rin”), the reminder to cling to God, to lean on the example of those who’ve endured more, and above all, to recognize that even in emptiness there is purpose.

C. Emerging Signs of Hope

Despite hardships, glimmers of hope shine through. Community, family, and faith have been anchors; small acts of trust and love evolve into multiplied blessings. There is a collective realization: we are struggling together, and through the Eucharist and Spirit, we are grounded. The Holy Spirit calls us to be agents of hope, empowering us to open ourselves to grace and to embrace the mission ahead. We persevere Padayon! not by our strength, but because God remains faithful and calls us onward.

5. Formation of Formators: Kailangan ng formation of formators especially the young ones.

1. First Sharer- working with the elderly, hard to work with patience and understanding them. The elderly cant relate to the elderly- some are hard headed. “Kasaluluyan”- Nakaraan. Problems in ministries are hard- temptation. Bat kailangan kampihan ang mali.

2. Second sharer- Youth have their own ways of thinking and are hard to handle. Sometimes they think na mali sila lagi.

3. Third Sharer- habaan ang pasensya dahil hindi lang ako youth coordinator, also in the barangay with other tasks. Maraming mga gawain. More on paperworks. Time management, last term mag aapply sa deped. Knowing Gods plan. God gave me a second chance got comatose a few years ago. I will continue to serve.

4. We have similar experience of hopelessness on how we handle you dont give up, continue to care. Touching cause you never give up. We should never lose hope. Their are still beacons of hope. Sister yung pagiging ina ni nanay merly dahil bingyan niya ng space ang anak niya at hopeful sa pagbabago na possible mambgyari dahil nagsimba na last sunday. Naka relate dahil nakatapos ng pag aaral kahit na 11 silang magkakapatid.

Nanay Cely: sa kapatid na may kapansanan. Andin yunh love sa kapatid niya na dating malakas pero ngayon ay bed ridden na. Iyon din kasi naramdaman sa mga kapatid. Dating di active sa simbahan oero ngayon ay isang katekista.

2. Nakita ang Diyos sa kwento ng iba. Totoo ngang kasama natin ang Diyos sa lahat ng ating mga ginagawa sa buhay, madilim man o masaya.

The Holy Spirit wants us to reunite with one another, to be drawn closer to God as one family. He guides us to be Christ-like and role models for the community, especially the needy, sick, and lost, just as mentioned in the beatitudes. The Holy Spirit, empowers and strengthens our confidence, hearts, and minds. And with this newfound motivation, we can take the righteous path, and receive God's graces ten times more.

Let’s not lose hope because God is always with us. Brave souls come with a great mission. God is closer to the hopeless. We ought to pray becase it is our communicatiom with God. And it is here that we get to feel him.

God wants us to pay attention to every detail. He gives his directions indirectly, because he wants us to pay attention. We can pay attention to his promptings in even those instances we don't notice. Divine intervention is the redirection for us to have hope. We can view hope as being just not in the future or the past but hope can be in the process of going through the paths of life's journeys, keeping the good always in mind.

Divergence
Expressing ourselves is not a sign of weakness but actually a strength. This applies to ministry as well: when we acknowledge our weaknesses, we open the door to developing better evangelization plans. Recognizing our weaknesses makes us more human and draws us closer to Christ as we unite in His sufferings.

Proposal
We should make evangelization more creative and inclusive, reaching not only those already in the Church but also the marginalized, the lost, and people outside the faith—including interfaith and multicultural communities. The parish can create more safe spaces for personal sharing and focus group discussions, which need to be strengthened to encourage openness and genuine dialogue.

I have a God who crosses with me as I survived my setback yet late I realize also, that I cross with my companions who is part of the body of the Risen Christ.

Ang karanasan ng sakit sa isang relasyon, lalo na sa pagitan ng magulang at anak, ay tumatagos hindi lamang sa emosyon kundi maging sa pisikal na aspeto—lalo na sa puso ng isang magulang. - She has a grave sickness, she has no money and no one to help them. But God is gracious that he sends friends to help her and support her needs.

- Before she has a lot of assignments in the parish, yet her parish priest changed her view: looking down in her and people will report bad things about her. But with her family and friends she was able to have more hope to

- Every year they change in assignments and duties, even to the point that people will just use them as workers and servants. But looking at Jesus who serves his own disciples; who were sinners

- She before thought of killing herself, to the point what she is doing before is like boring. Yet with the things she do before she set it back and start a new path. Doing new things helped her balance the things she once

"What touched me from what the others have said?"

"What resonated with me? Did someone’s story mirror something in my own life? Did I sense grace breaking through even in the pain?"

- In years of teaching, before she felt that procrastination of her work, but now as she appreciate her work she then felt that happiness and enjoying what is tasked of her.

- After feeling that she never like kids, she let herself appreciate children and how to relate with them.

- As she looks at what others, she felt that real hope from fighting from their own problems. She was inspired to fight even to the hardest moments.

- Although she face these kind of sickness, she looks forward more in the help of God grace. God is pur hope.

• A lot of us experience hardships through sickness. Family members/I were/was diagnosed by cancer/covid/heart disease, but there are lot of people who helped. We feel so hopeless but through other people, we had hoped to surpass the challenges.

• Being an orphan at a young age, I already questioned God "why"? But I also thanked God that I had to experience it because it made me closer to Him.

• People judged me by what happened that I didn't want/intended to. I knew that through God there's still hope, that someone will still accept me for who I am.

• Facing challenges in life really feels us that we are lost. I learned that we have to endure them. We need to let go of something to not waste the experience. These experiences gives us grace from God.

2. What touched me from what others have said?

• Every person has its own challenges in life. Others are worst than your hardship. All stories are inspiring. It motivated me more to move forward, it made me strong, and have courage in life. We realize how to be grateful. In every stories told, it shows a light of hope.

Divergence

Tension between interior calling vs. external limitations: While we sense a strong call from the Holy Spirit, we also express internal frustrations, fatigue, and fragmentation, between our desire to serve, the reality of dwindling participation, our responsibilities at work and home, and the unclear fruits of our labor.

Proposal

Reassess our pace, boundaries, or specific role. Seek integration between our ministry and work life. Clarify where you're most needed now. Not forever, but for this season. Mainly, we are being called to stay and grow. Stay in the ministry, but not as stagnant.

We are being called to: Grow deeper in prayer and purpose, serve without recognition, form others and let yourself be formed, remain joyful and hopeful, even when it's hard. And integrate your apostolate with your life; at work, at home, in community.

Part 1:

1. What experience of hopelessness today affects me? What is it telling me?

Many of the experiences of deep hopelessness are from :

-the overworked and underpaid, to the unemployed, the grieving, the youth struggling with mental health, and even teachers and healthcare workers facing burnout. A newly professed sister losing hope because they don’t have filipino sisters in their congregation anymore. A CLE grade school teacher who is worried and losing hope because her students don’t know or doesn’t have any idea of who God is.

Their stories reflect pain, doubt, and brokenness: dreams delayed, vocations questioned, and faith challenged by injustice, indifference, and suffering. But still, they see hope in their experiences, they still have a glimpse of that Hope.

3. Where is the holy spirit leading us as a community of hope.

The Holy Spirit is leading us to see the light even in the darkness of days, inspires us, and gives us the assurance. Holy Spirit is guiding us to see the face of Jesus in everyone and is leading us to a spiritually rooted life. The Spirit is leading us to total surrender to God, and God’s will will always prevail. Finally, the Holy Spirit is leading us into being a leader like Jesus did.

1. From the stories of hope/hopelessness, how I was affected?

* Julie Labastida (Pasig) The pain of a mother who disappeared (Mrs. Burgos); capacity to transform hopelessness and loss to a greater mission; seeking justice for her son and for the people he wanted to serve before; faith as a foundation of hope

* Joey (Malolos) We have no idea of how a person grown up and even what happens in one's personal life (LA). My wife was hospitalized and sent to ICU due to COVID. Hope and prayer life was tested. My plea was to take my life instead rather than my wife. The husband is supposed to be the pillar of the house. The role of my wife as the light giver is very important. I cannot imagine the family without her. I have 3 sons. They can serve as pillars on my stead. Other family members tested positive. I saw the need to organize a prayer group to draw support during that trying moments. Prayers for her healing was answered. God is great.

* Bernadette (Malolos) Story of LA; begun serving the parish since her childhood days as member of the music ministry; talents are harnessed while serving the Lord; I applied for scholarship thru my musical skills but I ended up having my own family. My parish service continued. However, I had a challenging pregnancy wherein either my child or me could die. Through prayers, we both survived but had difficulty to see. I chose to continue with the assistance of my husband. During my second pregnancy, my child died in my womb. Never complained about the situation. Instead, surrendered everything to the hands of God and sought the prayers of the community (CFC). I was later involved in the catechetical work.

* Dina (Novaliches) My family is involved in the Church. It played a great role in the way my life unfold. Willing to give and serve more but limited by the family responsibilities (as grandmother)

* Amy (Antipolo) Grew up exposed to Church activities. Became a catechist at the age of 15. The inspiration of family is impirtant.

* Tetchie (Novaliches) Grew up in a catholic family, wanted to find God in different denominations; became a catechist after being exposed in Opus Dei; touched by the experience of Mrs. Burgos. Cannot imagine the depth of suffering on the part of a grieving mother, saddened by the growing incidences of forced disappearances and other injustices, i too was red tagged because of my community involvement when I helped the families of the EJK victims. Angered by the injustices happening. It is challenging to pray in events like that but I keep reminding myself because it is what the Lord expects from us.

* Dom Santiago (OSB) Every coverage is a mission (Jessica Soho) we are monks but we can do mission by praying for other people. Prayer can also be an act of reporting to God about the people I want to pray for. It is difficult to prayer but it sanctifies us specially when we remain faithful to it.

* Arlene (Manila) The role of the family in the development of faith is important (Jessica Soho). Grew up with non catholic parents. I was raised in an interfaith way of life. I appreciated the beauty of different expressions of the faith. I hope that the role of the family could be focused right now

* Marie (Antipolo) Our family is imperfect but God uses a mother and father to plant in us the seed of goodness and the desire to be good. I cling to the hope that even if we are in our imperfect conditions, but our efforts can make a big effect in the lives of the people we serve

* Rona (Antipolo) WYD experience; academic life and parish life are sometimes conflicting; motivation to go to WYD was tested by the overwhelming responsibilities that time; i asked myself if i am still qualified to go because i had less time for it because of my thesis; visa application was pending and felt that others are more deserving than her; approval was later granted; other companies did not make it on time. They arrived later. Deserve ko. WYD experience was heavenly, a way of God to make me feel that I am loved and blessed. Grateful for the opportunity and those people who helped her

* Jef (Antipolo) Grew up serving in the Church, now in Diocesan Youth Ministry. Applications to join WYD were rejected; more than a dream it is a chance to bear witness. Reasons of rejection of the visa application was not divulged. Felt hurt. Fled to Mary for consolation and got afraid that frustration could lead to burnout and eventual withdrawal from the ministry; discerning of what path to take ; transforming hopeless encounters into grace-filled opportunities (Mrs. Burgos)

* Raquel (Malolos) appreciate the role of family in faith formation; my profession as guidance counselor and role as catechist; God guided me towards this path, He gave all the opportunities I needed then. I resigned from work because i had less time to serve our parish. I joined PREX. Someone encouraged me to become a catechist. God have been leading me. His plans are greater than my plans.

* Pet (Malolos) Inspired by the words faith, hope and love. There is hope while we are alive. Financially challenges experienced by the family. Had no worries but clueless of what to do. While in prayer, I had the inspiration of going to my sister; she helped me raise funds. God is so good. My problems with our properties were solved before my husband died. Never get tire of praying.

* Marivic (Malolos) Inspired by the story of LA Tenorio; I was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and it required me to raise large amount of money. I was desperate but I survived. Few weeks ago, I had another medical issue. I really prayed for my safety and survival. Each breath we make can be our own prayer. God helps.

* Cely (Malolos) inspired by the story of LA, my son was diagnosed with a rare disease. I had few financial resources but many helped me (family, colleagues, churchmates)

* Evelyn (Malolos) was diagnosed with cancer like LA; i was questioning God. I gave my life to serve Him but why am I suffering? I needed to stop in teaching and my church engagements to reflect on many things. He shown me a lot of things to correct in my life. I had a chance to return. I had a new calling - to be more humble than before. I need to be more understanding of others

* my husband suffered stroke but I kept on believing. I find ways to make a living while taking care of him. I really laid everything to Him and asked to heal my husband. He was able to recover within three months. I was very thankful because fervent prayers were answered. He is already dead and I had more time to devote for the Church serving as a catechist.

* Lorie (Pasig) I know that there are many challenges to face in my life and in my apostolate. Our faith strengthens our hope for the promises He gives us.

2. What struck me most in the sharing?

* We choose to remain hopeful. We are called to bring hope to the children we accompany as catechists.

* We must bring hope as true role models to the young.

* I realized that I am blessed even if I too am suffering. Faith and prayer life is very important.

The group acknowledges that hardships are inevitable. We, as pilgrims traverse this life struggling, fighting for each own life trying to survive every problem that the world throws at us. But such dire situations shall not hinder our faith in God. The more struggles that we experience the more we need to long for God's presence in our life, in this way, we can vivify the word "Padayon."

Our life also serves as a manifestation of God's unending grace of Hope. Indeed, habang may buhay, may pag-asa.

Hence, having awareness and sensitivity to the seeds of hope such as being rooted in the communion (accompaniment) with the Church, in the situations of other people (immersion and shared-experiences that can serve as connection), and in the hope of God, will lead us towards the essence of being pilgrims of hope.

1. Bro Greg- naapektuhan Ako nun dahil nakayanan niyang magtrabaho abroad. Bilib Ako sa mga taong kayang magsakripisyo na mawalay sa kanilang pamilya para magtrabaho kasi di ko kayang mawalay sa pamilya. Di ko kayang ipagpalit ang trabaho sa aking pamilya.

2. Nakarelate Ako Kay bro. Greg dahil yung asawa ko din ay nagkasakit pero Hindi nawalan ng pag-asa

3. Na touched Ako sa pagkamatay ng inyong mga asawa (Joseta &Camille). Pero ang pagkakaiba lang naging independent Ako at natuto Ako lumaban sa buhay. Hindi Ako sumuko sa buhay despite of what happened.

Where is the Holy Spirit leading us as a community of hope? Where the Holy Spirit is bringing us?

1. Yung karanasan ng kawalan ng pag-asa ay paraan ng Diyos upang mapalapit sa kanya. It is an awakening for us para paglingkuran ang Diyos.

2. Sa Gitna ng pagsubok ay Nakita ang liwanag ng Diyos. Maencourge ang ibang tao na maglingkod sa simbahan na maglingkod dahil sa pamamagitan ng paglilingkod ay nagiging mas malakas Tayo upang magpatuloy sa Buhay.

3. Anyayahan ang kabataan na magsimba para Hindi mawala sa daloy ng buhay at mawala sa tamang landas.

4. Ang banal na Espiritu ang tumulong saamin upang mas maliwagan sa aming buhay at maintindihan ang aming kapwa sa kanilang pinagdadaan. Sa pamamagitan ng paglilingkod nakikita namin ang kahalagahan na pasiserve sa simbahan at sa aming kapwa.

In our Conversation in the Spirit, we listened deeply to one another’s stories each marked by struggle, perseverance, and quiet grace. Though our experiences differ, a common thread emerged: hopefragile at times, but always present, always pointing us forward.

Hopelessness came in many forms: bad weather, health concerns, old age, doubts, feelings of inadequacy, and even personal pain like a child choosing a different path of faith. Yet, in each experience, the message was clear do not surrender. From flat tires to flooded homes, from fear of rejection to chronic illness, the Spirit gently reminded us: you are not alone. Others showed up. Help came. Healing happened. Time was just right.

We were moved by the honesty and sincerity in each other’s sharing. One group, even while facing challenges, called themselves a community of hope. Another reflected how teaching children, especially those with mental health needs, taught them patience, understanding, and humility reminding us to “sip our mouths” and grow in compassion.

We heard a powerful conviction: hope is a promise of God. Even when prayer is forgotten, it is never too late to return. Prayer strengthens us. Sharing our pain, even the most personal kind, becomes a witness to the Spirit’s quiet work in ushealing, reconciling, sending us forth.

In all these, we sensed where the Holy Spirit is leading us:

•To keep moving forward (Padayon) even when the road is rough.

•To become more patient, compassionate, and inclusive.

•To trust that every moment of listening to God and to one another is sacred.

•To live not just as individuals, but as a synodal community: listening, accompanying, and bringing hope to others.

Let us continue this journey together grounded in faith, open to the Spirit, and committed to being a Church that truly walks with and for others.

Question 1: Stories of Hopelessness: WHAT EXPERIENCES OF HOPELESSNESS TODAY AFFECTS ME? WHAT IS IT TELLING ME?

Work-related scenarios, roles given is hopeless. Handling children of today is very difficult. It is telling her that God wants her to be more patient and guide these children, her students to become good.

Future, he is doubtful for the results of the future. Relating to Card. David's reflection he realizes that God wants him to focus in the present and believe that Hope is always there. Those things of hopelessness is just a stepping stone to see what is the goodness ahead.

Teacher responsibilities, teachers just not meeting students but also the teachers. Securing position in the government owned schools are not attainable right now due to non compliance to the requirements. But having God and the school that she is employed it helps her to become hopeful. She realized that God has a perfect timing for her in the future.

4-point reflection: Philosophy is tantamount to what will happen to you. His Seminary life, hoping is not a wishful desire, before he entered the seminary he is very enthusiasm to be inside but it is different when he entered the seminary. During Covid 19 pandemic he became hopeless because of what is happening during those times. He disappointed to God Because of what happened in his life. His Mother is always telling him that "Kung hindi pa time for you, it will still come". Hope is for from the desire and willingness of pain. Decide first to understand God and Christ, relating to the sorrowful mysteries, he realized that loving God and embracing his humility. In his children time, he is very fragile his parents guide him and until now he was guided by them. And he believed that all of these are from God.

As a Coordinator in the Parish, when they are conducting programs, there are worries they are having and it giving them hopelessness. Bible Apostolate gives enough evangelization to the catholics in their community. The Lord is telling him to let go the worries and hopelessness and let the Holy Spirit work.

Current work struggles, sudden changes in work set-up, also changes in the team. His performance became burden to him because of guilt feeling. He needs to perform a head to get the team a wfh set-up.

At a young mind there are many hopelessness in his life but he never tagged is as it is. As he reflecting when he was a college graduate he is a strong person and he can control everything he experienced. The time you will feel hopelessness is when it is uncontrollable anymore and you gave up. We can feel hopeless when we have God at our side. Focus the things we can control, and more than that God can control to the things that we cannot control.

For government leaders, just recently there are laws that are not applicable and very big to handle for people who do not have. As she reflects it is very burden to some. Leaders should mind the people in the peripheries not just for the income of the country.

Question 2: WHERE CAN I RESONATE FROM THE SHARING OF MY COMPANIONS?

The story of teacher responsibilities, helplessness is not the same with hopelessness. Leave the helplessness behind and let God help you control everything. Seek the help of God. Do not forget that God is much bigger than your problems.

Let go of things that you cannot go on. Youth Ministry is just a timeline of your youth. Being out of place is part of leaving the ministry behind. And God has a better plan for him and the ministry.

Importance of the Family.

Timing differences. If the plan is not acceptable to God. There is another plan a head of everyone. There are no one wants to be with God without becoming broken, it is a requirement before you become with God.

When we feel hopeless, any problems we had or having right now, God entrusted it to you because he knows that you can handle it. He is bigger than your problems just seek his guidance. Ask him on how to overcome it.

There is a plan for you by God. Vocation is not just priesthood, there more than that. Even you want it if God doesn't, believe in God's plan and for sure you are in good hands.

Trust in God's perfect timing. In our prayers sometimes we are rushing the Lord, God answers us with 'yes', 'no', and 'wait'. God wants us to be patient and there are times we don't received our prayers do not be discourage. If the Lord, delays your prayer be ready for it. Every-time she prays to God, he ask for the enlightenment and guidance from him.

Waiting for what you are praying, the perfect timing, if this is not for you, it is not for you. If it permissible by God, even there are hurdles it will given unto you.

SYNTHESIS: God has a better plan for all.

Question 3: Communal Discernment: WHERE IS THE HOLY SPIRIT LEADING US AS A COMMUNITY OF HOPE?

It will us lead us to God. There is a God who we can call upon.

Holy Spirit lead us become leaders and bearers of Hope. When we realize God will never abandon us. Just do your best and God will do the rest. Everything we have it can lead us to be the bearers of Hope.

He lead us to put more trust to him. Forget thinking about the future as it gives us more pressure and stress, just think of the present.

As a parish coordinator, it is hopeless to continue. But the Lord is telling us to stay and continue.

It is always easy to say that we are in loved, but staying is much difficult. We must be the temple of the holy spirit to inspire others not just because of the profession that you have but through the works of the holy spirit.

The Holy Spirit is within us, it is to us, on how we share the Good News, that we are the sons and daughters of God. Our purpose is to see who we are. Our responsibilities must affect the future of our children. It is her mission as a teacher to lead the hope to her community in accordance of the Holy Spirit. Let the Holy Spirit pass through us to teach God.

The Holy Spirit is leading us to what he wants us to be. God has better plans for you. Even though you do not want it and you feel that it is not suit you, believe that God given it to you because he knows it you can handle it. Just follow the path he wants you to be.

The Holy Spirit wants us to grow and mature in our spirituality and goal. Believe in our capabilities, the goodness of others and God. Trust that God is everywhere. Do you part, through your actions. We are in the pilgrimage with others

SYNTHESIS: The Holy Spirit leads us to become the witness to the stories and faith of others and our children. Become the inspiration and face of Hope of our co-pilgrims.

2. Our Faith is Proven Through Our Actions. We understand that our "Ultimate Trust and Faith in God" cannot remain an internal feeling. It must become visible through "authentic acts of love and service." This is why our "Practice of Stewardship" and our "Mission to Strengthen the Youth" are not optional extras, but the essential proof of our faith. They are how we put our trust into action, caring for God's creation and His people.

3. Our Future is Woven into Our Youth. We share a powerful, unified focus on our young people. Our “Mission to Strengthen the Youth” is our practical plan to nurture them. But it finds its deeper purpose in our promise to be “beacons of hope, especially for the youth.” We see that all our efforts-our prayers, our service, our stewardship-are ultimately directed toward building a strong foundation for the next generation to lead and to carry the light of Christ forward.

The group was composed of Sister Bea, Sister Ruby, Orlan, Lira, Mary Grace, Lizette, and Abbie. During the sharing, the group shared the different instances when they experienced hopelessness, such:

• Sister Bea felt hopeless with the loss of communication and connection among social media and gadgets-obsesses youth

• Mary Grace felt hopelessness in lack of initiative towards addressing environmental issues in provinces

• Orlan mentioned being struck by the sharing of Mrs. Edita Burgos, and he shared that he also went through the struggle of becoming "the face of the church" as a youth leader and of being a source of comfort for others despite going through personal experiences of loss and grief

• Lira expressed hopelessness in her mission as a lay catechist and in her conflicts with a former friend who had been manipulative towards her

• Sister Ruby experienced feelings of hopelessness with her formator, felt that there was a lack of trust with her; however, she felt that it was God's way of telling her to "padayon" or continue in her journey as a novice

• Lizette experienced spiritual and emotional struggles at an early age since being orphaned and having to assume responsibility over her younger siblings. She felt hopelessness in not being able to experience a "normal childhood"

• Abbie shared about the challenge of holding on to hope and aspiring to move forward despite the hopelessness that comes with her family's and her own mental and physical health issues.

Part II: What Touched Us From Each Other's Stories

The group unanimously agreed that they felt touched and moved by how they related to each other's sharings. The sharers noted how they went through similar challenges but just under different contexts. Through this sense of shared struggle, we realized that holding on to hope is a continuous process of "padayon" and "pahuway" — finding balance between perseverance and rest.

Sister Bea expressed that "insan kailangan masaktan para matauhan", which Abbie resonated with. During the discussion, the group shared a common understanding that pain and struggle is what makes us human, and that God believes we are bigger and stronger than our fears.

Part III: Where is the Holy Spirit leading us as a Community of Hope?

The group concluded the following:

• By presenting ourselves and being open with our struggles, we become an inspiration for others

• "Lively witnessing of the faith"

• The importance of synodality: listening without judgment builds trust, compassion, community, and hope.

• Cultivating a "culture of care" for others, for our own self, for the environment

• The Holy Spirit is leading us to PRAY MORE so we can HOPE MORE

• LISTENING WITH THE EAR OF THE HEART

In the midst of academic pressure, personal struggles, and emotional burnout, many of us have felt the sting of hopelessness—whether it’s missing out on a Latin honor, failing an important requirement, or constantly falling into frustrating habits. We are haunted by the feeling of failure, of not being enough, and of not living up to expectations. But in every difficult season, a lesson quietly unfolds.

Each story shared speaks of God’s quiet but constant presence, showing us that even when our plans fall apart, everything happens for a reason. Failures become opportunities to persevere and try again. Through heart-to-heart talks, moments of restlessness, and even unexpected tragedies, we are reminded that growth happens not in grand leaps, but in tiny steps—and that’s okay.

Sometimes, we feel trapped by responsibilities, decisions made for us, or roles we didn’t choose. But as the pain unfolds, we learn that rejection is redirection, and that God’s plan, though unclear now, is always for our good. Grades may fall, projects may be delayed, and tears may be shed—but there is a promise that this too shall pass. In all of it, family, faith, and inner healing become our anchors.

From this journey, the call becomes clear:
We are not alone. Hope is not passive—it is an act of trust, a choice to believe that God is at work, even when we don’t understand. We are called not only to trust more, listen deeply, and surrender bravely, but also to become a light to others—to be compassionate listeners, helping hands, and signs of hope in the darkness.

Even when we feel inadequate, God uses our brokenness to bring light. Our task is to keep going, to be kind, to take care of one another and the world around us. For indeed, no one is an island, and together, with God at the center, hope lives on.

Across the different groups, a wide spectrum of experiences of hopelessness was shared, ranging from personal, academic, emotional, and familial challenges. Many students expressed feelings of exhaustion and inadequacy, particularly those who juggle multiple roles as students, athletes, performers, and leaders. The pressure to meet expectations, whether from school, family, or even from oneself, often leads to a loss of confidence and motivation. Others shared struggles rooted in their family lives: growing up with emotionally absent or alcoholic fathers, or not knowing one’s real father, has created deep emotional wounds and identity questions. For some, these challenges have fostered a sense of isolation and loneliness. Mental health concerns also surfaced, with students recounting experiences of depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts, especially during the pandemic. Yet, amidst these dark moments, there was a consistent message emerging from the reflections: hope is still possible. The experience of hopelessness, while painful, has taught them the value of opening up, of recognizing their limits, and of choosing to persevere. They are learning that healing often begins in vulnerability, and that strength is not the absence of struggle, but the courage to face life despite it.

Synthesis of Question 2:

The sharing of others deeply moved the participants and allowed them to see that they are not alone in their struggles. Many were touched by stories of family pain and abandonment, and found themselves relating to experiences they never expected to hear from their peers. The vulnerability shown in each testimony created a space for empathy and connection. They were inspired by the quiet strength in their classmates’ words especially those who continued to strive for excellence, to love themselves, and to find peace, even in the midst of great difficulty. Phrases like “Padayon” (carry on) and “Kaya mo ’yan” (you can do it) echoed throughout the sharing as reminders that endurance and belief in oneself can light the way forward. Reflections also emphasized the importance of knowing one’s purpose, asking oneself “Para kanino ba talaga ako nag-aaral o nagsusumikap?” (For whom am I really doing all this?), as a grounding force in times of pressure and doubt. Above all, what touched them most was the realization that everyone is carrying something, some form of pain, struggle, or longing, and yet still choosing to move forward. This shared humanity became, for many, a source of comfort and renewed hope.

Amidst these, they recognize that the Holy Spirit helps them grow spiritually and made them to reflect that:

• Even in our darkest days, we should not forget that there is light, which is God.

• Laudato si Program is a means for unity, where we are actively engaging with and responding to the current issue of the world.

• The Holy Spirit is telling us to trust God and not to question Him of what he has given to us, because everything has a reason. Also, spend time to listen to His words and hearing Him through sharing experiences and reflections with others.

• The Holy Spirit is telling us to pray and ask for forgiveness, because we are not perfect.

feeding program for children and livelihood program for adults (some parents are just fine with receiving doled outs instead of making a living for their own families)

1 - Brotherhood and companionship, being unheard and unnoticed by the community is difficult. Especially when it is difficult to be open.

1 - The world changes, and infested with many evildoing, corruption, unsanctified lives, contraception, and as a seminarian, to be holy is to love our nation as well.
2 - Don't be worried when poor, yet still concerning for those who have saved for the future yet depleted by the tax, when everything has tax already. Despite the high tax collection, nothing returns to the society, only corrupted by the officials. The rich ones are made richer, and the poor ones are made more poor. Being under formation is indeed hard, especially when we are expected to do things, but it is indeed important, someday your formators will be your brothers as well.
3 - Contraceptives are illegal as far as known, and it is indeed sinful. Be open to the formation, be obedient. The government needs to be aware of the true society where the marginalized are being neglected.
4 - The political issues are getting worse and our Church indeed needs to speak of it.

Question 3:
1 - A better change, a change that leads not away, but going to Christ, we listen to others not to inspire but to be inspired. We need to be the voice of the poor and the needy, we become a hope when we become Christ in them, we don't speak, we act on it. In the world of secularism where God is not known, many are still hungry for the Word of God and we need to take action on it.
2 - As pilgrims of Hope, there is change, not too fast, but slow and surely. We begin changes to ourselves before hope could flourish to spread unto others. Hope begins to ourselves when we do things with the heart and prayer
3 - Perseverance and Patience, to understand one another, to pray for change, it is when hope emerges, nothing happens when separation and misunderstandings lead our lives.
4 - Patience, there's hope, it does not disappoint. Taking actions by speaking up to the social issues, be a good listener before becoming a good speaker.

• Decline in vocations: Fewer young people are entering priestly or religious life; lack of visible, inspiring witnesses.

• Absence of role models: Religious life is no longer modeled in a way that attracts or forms the youth.

• Need for inclusivity: The Church should be more open—give people a chance; formation can transform them.

• Catechists being removed: Pulling catechists out at the parish level makes grassroots evangelization difficult.

• Lukewarm faith in communities: Apathy, disinterest, and lack of enthusiasm in barangay-level participation.

• Perseverance: Have patience, endurance, and spiritual resilience amid challenges.

• Strength of conviction: Be strong in faith even when it requires personal sacrifice.

Throughout various personal struggles—such as the loss of loved ones, financial hardships, family responsibilities, and the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic—hope continues to emerge through the presence of people around us. These include family members, friends, and even communities who offer love, support, and solidarity.

Many individuals faced grief, considered shifting courses, or continued with mismatched academic paths. Despite these internal battles, stories of perseverance and recovery became sources of inspiration for others, especially younger peers. These shared experiences created a sense of synodality, bringing people closer together through guidance, forgiveness, and unconditional love.

Ultimately, hope is not found in isolation but in solidarity, in deeper relationships with God, and in the shared human journey. Through mutual support and love, individuals overcome trials and work toward collective growth and betterment.

One person shared that they expected the seminary to be a place full of hope, but they also saw signs of hopelessness because of life’s many problems. Another shared that his family rejected him for serving the Church, saying there’s no future in it. Someone else, though young and previously unfamiliar with hopelessness, felt deep pain after the death of his grandfather.

In summary, these are the common perspectives of the participants. Despite all the hopelessness, there is still light. The Holy Spirit continues to guide us and show us the way. “PADAYON” LANG BISAG KAPOI, “keep going”. Life’s challenges are part of the journey, but with the Holy Spirit’s help, we can move forward. Hopelessness is real it is already part of our life. Through “PADAYON”, we find real strength, real meaning and the presence of God in our lives.

Synthesis: Conversion of Spirit – From Hopelessness to Hope

Our journey of faith is marked by moments of deep sorrow, uncertainty, and hopelessness—but through these very moments, the Spirit works silently, powerfully, and lovingly to bring about inner conversion.

In our sharing, we saw how hopelessness came in many forms—grief over a loved one’s death, the pain of being separated from a parent, the struggles of being a teacher with limited resources, the fear of failure, and the burden of illness in the family. Each of us carried different crosses, yet all these pointed to the same longing: to be seen, to be comforted, and to be given hope.

Despite our pain, we experienced how hope broke through in surprising and sacred ways. In the passing of exams we barely prepared for, in the unexpected generosity during financial need, in the healing of family wounds, and in the simple but powerful gratitude of our students—we saw how God was not absent, but deeply present.

The Holy Spirit, gently and faithfully, led us from despair to purpose. He reminded us that our wounds can become sources of light, that our stories can become sources of unity, and that our lives, no matter how broken, are always redeemable when surrendered to God's grace.

This conversion of spirit is not a one-time event, but an ongoing transformation. The Holy Spirit continues to invite us each day:

• to see beyond our suffering,

• to cling to faith when nothing else makes sense,

• and to be instruments of hope for others.

In the end, our shared hope becomes our shared mission: to listen with compassion, to serve with joy, and to proclaim through our lives that God never abandons His people.

Synthesis:

I. Group 1 Experiences of Hopelessness and the Power of Prayer

Hopelessness often emerges from relationships strained by misunderstanding, rejection, or personal trials.

One parish and diocesan servant experienced deep restlessness after being reprimanded by a new parish priest for presenting stewardship plans without prior consultation. The discomfort haunted her for days, yet through persistent prayer, reconciliation and peace were restored.

Another lay minister felt disheartened when someone under her care bypassed her authority by soliciting donations without approval. Her efforts to clarify the matter led to her removal from their group chat, and sadly, stories spread about her, affecting even her children. The situation hurt her family so deeply that her children left their parish choir. Yet, through a life of prayer, what seemed like a closed door opened a better path — her children now serve as choir members in the cathedral, a new and greater calling.

A former OFW, burdened with the responsibility of supporting her ill siblings, faced a turning point when her savings could no longer suffice. Amid her despair, she was invited to enter the convent. With nothing left but faith and surrender, she entered religious life, entrusting her loved ones and their healing to God. Her prayer became her strength, and her calling became her healing.

Another individual carried the pain of not seeing her mother for 25 years. Her only bridge to hope was prayer — a quiet but powerful lifeline that sustained her through decades of longing.

Lastly, an educator and mother shared how her entire journey of overcoming helplessness relied solely on being prayerful — affirming that a life rooted in faith can transform pain into perseverance.

In conclusion

Despite varying stories of loss, misunderstanding, rejection, and deep longing, these servants of the Church found common ground in one thing — **prayer**. In moments where they could have surrendered to hopelessness, they turned to God. And in return, God transformed their pain into purpose, their sorrow into peace, and their setbacks into sacred new beginnings.

II. The most touching and striking aspect of the group sharing is the transformative power of prayer amidst deep personal pain and rejection.

Each story reflects a moment where everything seemed to fall apart — misunderstandings with Church leaders, being bypassed and removed from ministry roles, financial and family crises, long years of separation from loved ones, and even the loss of one’s dignity and reputation. These were moments when giving up would have been the easier path.

And yet, in all their hopelessness, they chose to surrender, not to despair — but to God. They didn’t retaliate, defend themselves bitterly, or give in to resentment. Instead, they turned to prayer, and in doing so, they experienced peace, healing, restored relationships, and even unexpected blessings — such as their children finding a new place in the cathedral choir, or a wounded OFW discovering her true calling in the convent.

What strikes the heart most is how each person found hope not in solving their problems, but in letting God carry them through it. It shows that when people feel forgotten or cast aside — even within the Church — God still sees, calls, and restores them in ways no human affirmation ever could.

III. The Holy Spirit, through the group's shared experiences of pain, surrender, and renewal, is clearly leading the group as a community toward healing, deeper unity, and spiritual maturity. Their stories are not just personal but communal — showing how wounds in ministry, when brought to prayer, can become seeds for transformation.

Group's call to action for the community:

1. Create Safe Spaces for Listening and Reconciliation

Action: Organize regular “healing and listening circles” or kamustahan sessions where parish workers, lay leaders, and coordinators can openly share struggles, clarify misunderstandings, and pray together — especially with new clergy assignments or parish transitions.

Why: Many of the hurts stemmed from miscommunication or feeling bypassed or dismissed. By fostering a culture of respectful dialogue and openness, they nurture unity and mutual trust.

2. Establish a Family-Based Ministry Support System

Action: Launch a parish initiative that supports not just the servant but also their families, especially the youth, through formation, mentoring, and involvement in service (e.g., “Family of Servants” program, children/youth co-ministry support groups).

Why: Several stories showed how the hurt of one servant rippled into the lives of their children. The Holy Spirit may be inviting the parish to care for the whole family, not just the individual serving.

3. Deepen the Community’s Prayer Life with Purpose

Action: Introduce regular intercessory prayer gatherings specifically for the intentions of parish workers and their families — including a “Prayer Intention Box” or “Wall of Hope” where servants can write petitions anonymously, to be lifted as a community.

Why: All shared how prayer was the only source of strength during hopeless times. Strengthening collective prayer life roots the whole community in the Spirit, reminding them that service without prayer is just labor, but service with prayer becomes mission.

These calls to action respond directly to the lived wounds and spiritual growth of the community — affirming that the Holy Spirit is leading them not just to do more, but to be more compassionate, prayerful, and united as one Body in Christ.

Many of us experienced a sense of hopelessness today—whether due to the fear of the event being cancelled because of the rain, anxiety over performance, stress from time management, or simply feeling overwhelmed. But underneath each struggle was a quiet message: hope is never truly absent, even when it feels like it is. Whether it was through quick action, silent prayer, or surrendering to the moment, we were reminded that God’s timing is perfect and that trusting in Him—even amid uncertainty—opens the door to peace and clarity.

2. What touched me from what the others have said?

What struck us most from each other’s sharing is the realization that we are not alone in our fears and doubts. Everyone has their own form of struggle—fear, stress, uncertainty—but underneath them all is a shared humanity. We are all navigating life with similar emotions, and that connection brings comfort. There was a quiet strength in hearing how others found meaning, courage, and trust in the middle of their personal storms. It reminds us to always see the beauty beyond fear and to recognize God working through others’ stories.

3. Where is the Holy Spirit leading us as a community of hope?

The Holy Spirit is guiding us toward unity, growth, and deeper empathy. Through today’s experience, we’ve been drawn closer—not only to one another but also to God. The Spirit moves among us to help us see the good in our struggles, to become more independent yet interconnected, and to shine as light for others. We are being led to become a community that listens, supports, and uplifts, where each person is seen and where each story matters. Through this journey, we become a beacon of hope for one another and for the

world.

The Holy Spirit calls us to be more unified not just with our Christian brothers and sisters but also with persons from other faiths because they too are like us; we strive for peace and unity among all people. This is why we should be more open in hearing the cries of those people, especially the ones in the peripheries that are mostly neglected and forgotten. But it is not enough to just listen to their cries, but we should also act upon it because it is by our work that we can show our faith.

1. Our Vocation Helps Us in Difficult Times

Each person shared how God called them in their own way Ken as a church worker, Gerlie as a teacher and mom, and Sister Arlen as a religious sister. Even when life became hard, their calling or vocation helped them stay strong. God gives us a mission to help others, and this gives meaning to our life. Even young people today can find strength by following God’s call.

2. There Is Always Hope Because God Gives Grace

We heard stories of sickness, sadness, and delay in dreams. But each person said that God gave them strength to keep going. Sister Arlen reminded us that there is no hopeless moment, because God always gives help. Gerlie saw a miracle in her life. Ken recovered from TB. God’s help may not come right away, but it always comes.

3 Never Leaves Us We Bring Hope to Others

Ma’am Lery shared that even in the tragedy of the volcano, God did not abandon her family. We may not understand why hard things happen, but we can trust that God is with us. As Christians, we are on a journey with God. So we must also give hope to others, especially to those who feel lost or sad. We are called to be lights in the darkness.

Part 1
Most people shared the challenges they have faced throughout their work and family lives—and many are still dealing with them today. They spoke about how crises and ongoing difficulties have sometimes led to feelings of hopelessness. Some expressed concern that they are lagging behind in this modern era of rapid change. A few even wondered if they still mattered now that they are older. With technology evolving so quickly, they admitted feeling a sense of uselessness or fear that their skills and contributions no longer hold value.

Part 2
According to the note‑takers in each group, many participants felt disappointed by what others had experienced. At the same time, they recognized themselves in each other’s stories. They showed deep respect for one another, making a conscious effort to understand each other’s journeys. As facilitators and synthesizers of these conversations, it was clear that people who are engaged in their church community felt a strong sense of empathy and solidarity toward one another.

Part 3
The phrase “Kapag may awa, may kapwa” resonated strongly with everyone. Each group emphasized the importance of acceptance in dealing with life’s uncertainties. They acknowledged that many things in their lives are beyond their control. Yet they also expressed that acceptance brings a powerful kind of hope—a hope that enables someone to endure, survive, and eventually emerge stronger from the crises and transitions they face together.

Moreover, the participants found deep connection in each other’s stories, especially around grief, broken family ties, and the search for purpose. They recognized how the Holy Spirit has been silently guiding them. Through church involvement, service, and the sharing of personal gifts. Many felt called to become instruments of hope and light for others. The experience reminded them that despite life’s burdens, God continues to work through community, love, and faith.

First Round

1. What exp. of hopelessness today affects me? What is it telling me?

Theresa- worked as documentor of EJK families. Lack of justice na deserve ng mga pamilya dahil sa takot from 2016-2021. Nagfile ng case pero isa-isang nagback-out dahil sa takot. Nakakalungkot lang kasi parang tinanggap na nila na wala ng justice sa Pilipinas. Parang wala ng pag-asa. Bumabalik muli ngayon dahil sa case ng mga missing sabungeros.

Fr- 6 years nasa US, worked in CBCP and involved in HIV cases. Yong discrimination at stigma ng mga may HIV. Marami akong naging kaibigan sa kanila.

Sr Naima- lack of peace. Islam and Christian family. War is present in the world. I don't believe in hopelessness. Understanding at pagpaparaya. Kaso marami ang nagpapataasan ng pride.

Ms. April- injustice, natouched sa kwento ni Ms Edith Burgos. All things work for those who are working for good. I cannot describe the pain but I admire the courage.

Sr agnes- hopelessness among the poor. Where is the justice for this people? There are also weakness and faults in me thar I become hopeless myself. JESUS dies for everyone. I must not fall into despair and hopelessness.

April- hopelessness because there's a great need for catechesis and yet not really supported by the Church as a catechist

Carmela- hopeless because experienced challenges in life: questioned the existence of God and purpose of life, but experience a realization after an accident. Started going back to Church and received the Sacrament of Confession and experienced an overflowing grace to give it back.

2nd round

1. What touch me from what the others have said?

Sr agnes- I was touched by the exp. of the reception of the Sacraments, we are all in need of the healing spiritually. We have own stories and wounds, but only Jesus can heal those.

Ms April- family is an important foundation. I worked in. private Catholic institution. Challenged sa education sector kasi nagkakaron ng disconnect dahil hindi nagtutugma ang tinuturong values sa school at sa exp. sa pamilya. I hope everyone sees the importance of catechists and catechesis.

Sr Naima- Family, catechetics, and evangelization. Broken family but grew in a Catholic family, BECs, and surrounded by catechists: nabuo ang rel. with God, neighbors, and self. Catechesis and evangelization ay mahalaga para maging matatag ang pananampalataya. Sana maging maayos ang ministry sa buong bansa.

Fr Alan- nakakarelate kasi na ang catechist ay gem but hidden. Bilang pari, nakikita ko yong reality nito. Pray ko na sana may tumugon pa ring katekista sa kabila na hindi na recognize at naappreciate. Catechists are agents of God's message. Recatechize the family about the faith.

Carmela- relate sa catechism. Kulang sa catechism kahit sa parish namin lalo sa mga deaf. Important ang formation at catechism pero minsan mahirap kasi iba-iba rin ang ministry sa parokya. We cannot solve everything, do whatever in your capacity. A tinge of hope. Work what is at hand.

Theresa- nakakarelate sa stigma, sa mga people with alphabets (PWD, LGBTQs, HIV). May stigma rin sa pisikal na itsura. Nauuna ang judgment bago maintindihan.

Nagiging normal na tuloy ang ganitong kultura, kaya nakakalungkot at naiisip kailan mapuputol ang ganitong pagtingin lalo sa mga vulnerable (homeless, etc)

1. Where is the Holy Spirit leading us as a community of hope?

Sr Naima- What God is really telling me as a religious, Christian, catechist is how I become an instrument of love in the world of discrimination. I need to walk my talk amidst these hopelessness in my community and world and to see everyone as children of God created in His image and likeness. To treat others with respect and love so that they can be also be transformed.

April- we are being challenged, and as teacher, education and holistic formation is really important. It takes a village to teach a child. We need to work together, help and support each other for the good of the young. Accompaniment.

Fr Allan- How Can i become an evangelizer of Hope?

1. Accompaniment and encounter. You cannot journey with them without knowing their stories.

2. The Little Way- do the little things we can. Do with the purest way of love. The little things might have an impact.

Carmela- how we live in our life. "May the light in me sees the light in you." start within ourselves. Nemo quod non habet. Remind ourselves. Continuous teaching about the faith.

Theresa- as a community organizer it is a challenge to introduce the Church to the people, to the vulnerable. Ipakilala ang Simbahan sa mga tao at kung ano ang ginagawa ng Simbahan para sa kanila.
