My Children's Character Weakness

I have 2 kids age 10 and 7. While they have their strengths, I believe there are a number of character traits that could be improved

For my son, I would love to see growth in the below character strengths
1. Perseverance - He is demotivated when not successful at a task and gives up trying due to fear of failure

For my daughter
1. Social Intelligence - While she is able to interact well with her own age group, I find that she is withdrawn when engaging with people or audience out of her age group or people she meets first time. Would be great to have her build some social Intelligence

My elder daughter has always been the easy child to bring up. When I look at the traits you have written I cannot see one that she is lacking , but of course all can be improved on , as they could in all of us.

I feel my younger daughter has lived in her sisters shadow. She wants to be like her but she is a different personality. She has problems with persistence and diligence, but I believe some of her problems with these traits stem form a lack of self confidence. She doesn't believe she is capable and so it is easier for her to give up.

Every one of the course participants has indicated at least one most important character weakness of your child.

Attitude seems to be one of the common character weakness mentioned in our class. This is also a common challenge faced by many other parents in other classes.

The good news is that research has shown that character strengths such as 'attitude' can be improved, with cognitive and behavioral strategies, taught in explicit classroom learning. Parents can also play a big role in the development of character strengths.

We look forward to having more participation from you in this course as well as our other character education courses in due time.
