This book left me baffled. 

I have read Morgenstern's "The Nigh Circus" and it is beautifully and easily one of my favourite books. It is why I picked up The Starless Sea when it came out. It was beautiful and full of imagery, but the storyline ended rather abruptly with no real answers. 

I enjoyed how the stories being told before Zachary's timeline in the book were lifted from the books he was reading or others had written for him. They were like fairy tales but new. 

However, in the end, I felt as though I was supposed to know what was happening based on the stories I had read and yet I was left confused and craving more but for the wrong reasons. 

I have read the book twice now, looking for clues to the resolution and I cannot find them. What was up with Kat's storyline half way through? What did I miss? I get that Zachary's mom is a fortune teller and her part was to fortell the ending earlier in the book, but I want to know how they got there. I felt like half the ending is missing.
