After reading "The Sun Still Rises in the Same Sky: Native American Literature" (p.23) by Joseph Bruchac, identify three comparisons Bruchac makes between American Indian and Western views of the world.

1a) One comparison of American Indian and Western views would be that Western literature has been treated with much respect while American Indian was not. Another example would be that American Indian literature reflects a view on the natural world, which is not typically seen in Western literature. Western Literature tends to see the world as a straight line, while American Indian seems to be saw as an endless circle.

2) Read "The Sky Tree" on p. 24. What values can we assume some Native Americans had based on this myth?

2a) Some values Native Americans had based on this myth was that they believed that they could lean on the environment for help. Such as animals and plants.

3) Read "Coyote Finishes His Work" on p. 25. Based on our knowledge of Puritans, would the Native American tribes who told this story agree or disagree with the Puritans? Why?

3a) No, I believe this because the Puritans had their own beliefs on everything and didn't need another

1) After reading the biographical information about Anne Bradstreet on page 27, discuss her relationship to being a poet and being a Puritan. How do both titles affect her life? Answer in complete sentences and cite from the article.

1a) According to this article, Anne was looked down on because she was not like other puritan women. Even though she was not the same and some were embarrassed of her writing, she continued her poems and began to set an example out of herself for other women as well.

Why or why not?

2a) yes i do. I think it adds more emotion and is easy to read because of the said simplicity. It is especially easer to read for younger readers as well. He simply just writes about life and objects.

How does the article you chose relate to the story "The Wretched and the Beautiful"?

a) I chose the first article. The humans in the story do not deal well with the aliens because they are different. you can see that the article talks about how we react differently to things that look/ act differently. in the story, they do this by liking the better-looking aliens than the ugly ones.

What findings discussed in the article are similar to what is discussed in the story? Cite a piece of evidence from the article to support your answer.

b) In the article Holinger states “It is not uncommon for startle to be followed by terror, but it may be followed by excitement...," this quote relates to our story in many ways. One of those being when the spaceship first landed the people were scared and startled by it, but the longer they waited they became more curious and excited to see what was inside. The article explains that this is just a normal reaction for humans.

In your own experience, are the article's findings accurate? Have you ever experienced or witnessed what the article discusses?

c) I have felt some reactions that the article mentions. For example when the article discussed questions that people ask themselves when they are in a weird or different situation. I have asked myself some of the same things.
