The number of pets is increasing very fast, which the author recognizes as a threat as a growing pet population can harm the environment. A lot of people depend on pets for numerous reasons, so lessening the number of pets is not the solution suggested by the author but instead, the author takes a stand that demands a change in the way that pet food production is regulated.
