Walters personality traits hang throughout the book. the biggest one is hardworking. Walter always tried to do what was best for the family but never thought fully of himself. he had so many different ideas as to how to get money for his family and he never quit when things got rough and difficult.

in the quote, Walter talks about how he does nothing but work hard. he says he opens and closes a door all day for people and i know for me personally i would never be able to do that. he has to treat everyone with respect even if they do not respect him because at the end of the day hes doing what he has to to get money.

another trait that Walter possesses is smart. Walter has a lot on his hands with his family being poor and his wife and him arguing and beneath a trying to find a good husband. it is a lot but he has to figure out a way to take care of them all somehow and he does a pretty good job or it.

this quote shows how Walter is smart because it shows he knows the real will power to being alive and being successful, money. without money you cant do much and with a big family like Walters got, its important that he has the money to get them the things that they need like food and clothes. Walter knows the plot and what has to happen to keep his family alive, money.

personal, I don't like Walter, as hard working as he is he is, he is very doubtful, negative, and pessimistic. he is always the "glass half empty" type of guy. in many situations he seems like he just wants to give up and he is always mean toward other people because of his stress over money and keeping his family safe. he is probably the main reason Ruth and him fight a lot.

I choose a picture of a nice house burning down to describe Walter. I feel like Walter when he was younger was very nice and happy and didn't have a worry in the world based on a few glimpses in the book. but now that he has a lot to dear with his happiness that he once had is deteriorating and burning own and without happiness soon, he will have bigger problems then just unhappiness, just like how the fire needs to be put out soon to save whats left of the house because if not, it will burn down completely.

poem to describe my character

I chose this poem because it relates to a lot of whats going on in Walters life. Walter works so hard and gets paid title. similar to "work so hard and get fired". when it says " sad fact: i had a girlfriend its just the pen in my hand things revolve in my head when will all of this end?" this reminds me of when Walter would always have problems with Ruth and how they sometimes would wonder if they would be better off alone. the most important line in the pen that caught my attention was, "need parties i'm shut down from stress". in the story all the family seems to do is stress, Walter especially and also Ruth.

the song I chose to describe Walter is "stressed out" by 21 pilots. the reason I chose this song was because right off the bat its called stressed out which Walter is dealing with a lot of stress in the book. secondary in the chorus it says "wish we could turn back time to the good old days". this is like how Walter and Ruth probably wish they could go back to the good times before all the stress when they were happy.

the theme that i choose is money cannot buy happiness in life. the reason i chose this is because they never had money in the first place so why all of a sudden is it more important then when mama was a kid, she was able to get through. why do they need to buy in the nice house in the white people neighborhood? the quote use to support this is, Mama: “Son, how come you talk so much ‘bout money?” Walter: “Because, it is life, Mama!” Mama: “Oh—so now its life. Money is life. Once upon a time freedom use to be life—now its money. I guess the world really do change…” Walter: “No—it was always money, Mama. We just didn’t know about it.” p. 74. the reason i chose this is because it says how mama was always happy before the money and money doesn't mean everything but to Walter it does and that why Walter is so unhappy.
