         <description><![CDATA[<div>what an argument is<br>argument- a position on a substantive topic and them supports that position with reasons and evidence.<br><br>A strong argument-<br>*Shows an understanding of the issue<br>&nbsp;*clearly shows the relationships between ideas<br>* organizes reasons and evidence logically<br>* has formal style and a confident tone.<br>* concludes with a restatement of the claim<br><br>People should be able to put in their opinion out and if they have good evidence them they should be heard.<br>*To respond to a statement you agree or disagree with.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;*To get your arguments be confident and make sure you use strong reasons why.<br><br>Opposing claim- is objection that your antidote from your opponent.<br>*Show why your positive is stronger.<br>*Always think about what your opposing clam<br>*when you are arguing don't bring in other things that you are not arguing for keep one topic.<br><br>counter claim- is the opposite and the objective.<br>support- materials that is used to provide a claim.<br>reason- should have more than one example and evidence so that they will even think about it and not just say no.<br><br>Parts of evidence&nbsp;<br>Fact- are studied that can be proven<br>Statistics- are facts stated in number<br>Quotation<br>EX. like using book quotes/adding them for our novel projects<br>Anecdote&nbsp;<br>Example<br>claim is also the thesis&nbsp;<br><br>Writing argument<br>*logical- the reason the claim makes sense.<br>*relevant- the evidence is appropriate and some what related to your claim.<br>*sufficient- there is enough evidence to prove your point.<br><br>what&nbsp; makes a argument easy<br>*Lots of good evidence<br><br>logic sequence&nbsp;<br>*order of importance or from the most important to least important<br>*order of complexity or length<br>*order of familiarity<br>*order of likely acceptance<br><br>repetition-emphasis an important information<br>syntax- refers to sentence structure<br>Traditional phrases link ideas, sentences, and paragraph<br><br>word choice<br>loaded language- words with strong positive or negative connotations.<br>glittering generalities- the use of strongly positive but vague language; these words tend to sparkle and glitter.<br>Emotional appeal- include the use of words or images intend to generat feeling of fear, pity.<br>ethical appeal- writer links a claim a commonly held belief or value such as duty justice or a sense that's right.<br>Appeals by association<br>*Bandwagon -plays a readers need to be "one of the group"&nbsp;<br>*Testimonial- uses celebrities or experts to support an idea, a cause, or a product.<br>&nbsp;* Snob appeal- Takes advantage of people intercity<br>*Transfer- connects a products, candidate, or cause with a positive emotion or idea.<br>*Appeal to loyalty- diresires to display loyalty to a specific group.<br>Strong arguments help out loose ends ties them up.<br><br></div>]]></description>
