• Drugs and Alcohol also influence some of these mental illnesses or the other way round (mental illness leading to drug use) which leads to suicidal thoughts.

Some Statistics:
•From 2017, the statistics of suicide have been rising in young adults in the US.
• A number of them have suffered or been suffering from depression.
• suicide is now 2nd most common cause of death in young people.

• After the suicide rate declining for about 2 decades, it then began rising again for the past decade.
• Between 2007 and 2017, the suicide rate increased by 56% in people aged 10 to 24 according to the Center's for Disease Control and Prevention.

• The rate of teen depression increased by about 63%

• Only about 45% of teenage girls who experienced a period of depression got treatments.
   
Possible Solutions:
• Campaigns to encourage people specifically parents to look out for signs of depression.
