Columns are a type of structure that had cement cylinders as designs. I believe that columns are just a design so it can seem as if the columns are holding up the entire building. An example of Americans of the roman columns are in Washington D.C. If you go there you can see that most of the buildings have columns. Some buildings that have columns are the three buildings of the government branches.
