         <description><![CDATA[<div>This <a href="http://www.healthandsafetyontario.ca/HSO/HSO_Snapshot.aspx">poster</a> is an overview of workplace health and safety statistics provided by <a href="http://www.healthandsafetyontario.ca/HSO/Home.aspx">Health &amp; Safety Ontario</a>.<br>It highlights the number of people injured on the job in Ontario and the subsequent cost, the industries in which workers are most at risk of injury, the most prevalent injuries that are suffered by workers, as well as the financial benefits of preventing injuries and illness in the workplace.<br>Workplace injuries and illnesses are more common than many think, and can result in costly consequences for everyone involved.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This video was made as part of a website called<a href="http://www.skillszone.ca/"> <em>SkillsZone</em></a><em> </em>as part of Ontario's Skills Passport tool (on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Education which helps young people learn essential skills and work habits, in this case how to refuse unsafe work conditions.<em> </em>The <a href="http://www.skillszone.ca/working_safely/Facilitators%20Guide%20for%20Working%20Safely%20Video%20-%20English.pdf">accompanying guide</a> fleshes out the topic covered in the video further.<em><br><br></em>The video portrays a common situation that many workers may find themselves in. A task that has been assigned (in this case cleaning a fryer) that is having a detrimental effect on the worker's health by way of fumes from the cleaner. The worker debates whether to refuse the work, lest she be fired. After consulting a friend with knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, she confronts her boss and ensures that her workplace is safer for everyone there.</div>]]></description>
