Iqbal is a very brave kid and he always tried to do the right thing and help other people out. Fatima is the narrator in the story and goes along with Iqbal wherever she is. It's her story and how it connects to Iqbal. They go on many weird crazy adventures to help abused children get out of their work areas and where they work. Iqbal does everything he can just to help other people and he keeps trying and trying no matter what the cost is. He never gave up on his friends or kids that he has never met before.

Chapter 1: theme

I think that the theme of the book “ Iqbal” is to never give up. I think that it is, never give up because Iqbal never did no matter what. Whenever he set his heart out on something to do he always accomplished it even how many times he failed he just kept doing it. For example, when Iqbal escaped and asked the cop to arrest hussian khan. The cop fooled him and instead of helping he got paid to just leave and forget about. He never gave up his hope of saving all the poor children that were trapped in work factories. Even if he knew that he would have to risk his life for helping the children, which he did, he would still do it. When he escaped and got caught he was punished terribly and was sent to the tomb, and he knew that would happen again if he escaped again, but he did it anyways because he would never give up on the things that he wanted to accomplish.

I think that is a great lesson for us because when he didn't give up, he got things done and he felt proud. It would teach us that when we give up we feel sad, or mad, but when we don't we will feel super good inside and better when we do accomplish those things. So this shows the idea of never giving up is the theme, and when we feel like we have to give up to just know that if Iqbal sacrificed himself to help other people and did what he loved he would feel proud and so would we.

Chapter 2: compare/contrast

Me and the main character iqbal, are similar and different in many ways. First off, we are similar by helping others and we both have friends and family we would do anything for. For example, Iqbal escaped and tried to find help just for his friends, he could have left them there but he didn't. And for example for me, i go out of my personal time just to go pick up my sister from the bus stop since the bus stop is far from where we live. Another thing that we have in common is we both have something or someone we care about. Iqbal for example, really cares about saving other children from the other work factories. For me, i really care about saving dogs from the pet shelter or dogs that get abused because they are too good for the world, even though my parents don't let me keep the dog i still want to help them.

For differences, there are lots of things. First off me and Iqbal are very different because i live in the us where we have freedom of what we do, and iqbal has certain rules to live by and he can't really do anything he wants to unless he is allowed. We also are different because he was practically raised into child labor he has done more work than i have in my entire life! He's probably made hundreds of carpets and all I've made is a little bracelet that is very easy. He is in a ‘secret society’ thing to help other children out of child labor.	I have never even been in a type of club nor save people and help them out for something as terrible as that. Aslo clothing can show differences. The stuff that he wears is nearly to what I wear everyday. I couldn't imagine wearing such little clothing. The stuff I wear is probably way more comfortable then what they wear.

Chapter 3: Symbolism

I have a couple of ideas for the symbolism piece for the book “ Iqbal”. First off I think that a kite from the part when Iqbal promised Fatima and Maria that when they got out they will fly a kite together. So the kite represents freedom because when he promised it's like when they are free they will fly a kite high in the sky and have lots of fun and just feel like nothing can stop them. Another idea for symbolism is, a loom. A loom represents the idea of being trapped or lonely because the kids always had to work at their loom by themselves, and completely silent. sometimes even chained to their loom and that would make anyone feel lonely or trapped because i know that it would make me feel alone. Those two objects really connect to the book and it states a really big idea.

I think that the author wrote this novel so we can learn more about Iqbal in a different point of view and not just Iqbals. The author probably wanted us to know how it felt for other people do even though fatima wasn't an actual person it gives us another part of the story and how the other people felt. Parts of the book that shows it is when Iqbal left she was the one who talked about what was going on when he left.
