“The left rear fender had been smashed and around it was written, on the gleaming gold background: DONE BY CRAZY WOMAN DRIVER. Connie had to laugh at that. Arnold Friend was pleased at her laughter and looked up at her. "Around the other side's a lot more —you wanta come and see them?" "No." "Why not?" "Why should I?""Don'tcha wanta see what's on the car? Don'tcha wanta go for a ride?" "I don't know." "Why not?" "I got things to do." "Like what?" "Things." This is only 1 example of falseness/deception in the story. This piece of evidence illustrates how Connie laughed at something she find humorous and since Arnold saw that she liked it, he provoked her to come on out to see the other side or come for a ride. A lot of pedos says that to kids or teens to come for a ride or even candy and then kidnap them and those kids/teens get involved in human trafficking.

The sound of music is supposed to represent how Connie is feeling. For example in the quote "So they went out to his car, and on the way Connie couldn't help but let her eyes wander over the windshields and faces all around her, her face gleaming with a joy that had nothing to do with Eddie or even this place; it might have been the music.".

The women are supposed to act "proper" and are expected to always act and look perfect. For example the story says "June did this, June did that, she saved money and helped clean the house and cooked...". Both Connie and June were expected to behave like this and Connie was constantly judged because she didn't do all of that. Another quote in the story is "Their father was away at work most of the time and when he came home he wanted supper and he read the newspaper at supper and after supper he went to bed.". The father came home from work and expected the food to be ready by then and all he was supposed to do was sit down and eat.

in the story "You're my date. I'm your lover, honey." this shows how arnold as a man already assigned her as a lover and as a woman of connie she looked like she had no say because arnold was threatening her this also shows inequality of how men were superior than woman. another quote " But if you don't come out we're gonna wait till your people come home and then they're all going to get it." this shows more inequality that men are far superior because if her family came arnold will probably kill them and Arnold would think connie wont do anything about it.
This shows how men act way more superiors than woman and when i comes to rape they think woman are week and woman think they are useless and hopeless in society.
