Afghanistan is a landlocked country in central of South Asia. Thousands are rushing to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban seized back control of the country after almost two decades after they were ousted by a US led coalition(The Visual Journalism Team, 2021). The Australian government plays a huge role in providing asylums and humanitarian visas to resettle in Australia since, 2013.

According to Australian Refugee Health Practice Guide, three of the common health issues are:

1.Hepatitis B Virus(HBV)
Chronic HBV is usually asymptomatic and can cause serious liver diseases and cancer. On routine screening it is shown that most refugees have chronic HBV. A serology testing for HBV infection is must for refugees and further treatment and immunization for chronic HBV patients is always encouraged (Maclachlan & Cowie, n.d.).

2.Mental Health
A common concern is the mental health of refugees as the number of trauma, conflict, family separation and terror is as high as almost 21% of the refugees being reported as victims of mental abuse. Clinical screening for emotional wellbeing and mental disorder post arrival and health consultation son mental health are common treatment options (Paxton & Davis, n.d.).

3.Immunization
Refugees or people from refugee like backgrounds are often under-immunized or unimmunized due to forced migration and different immunization schedule in different countries. They are often found with no proper vaccine documentation. Treatment of this issue requires providing them with vaccination and documentation (Paxton et al., n.d.).

The Visual Journalism Team.
