Usually I don’t like watching gory things, but I actually really enjoy this show. Last summer my dad drove my sister and I to New York to visit them! It was quite an experience but it was great to see them! I definitely did not expect it to get as bad as it got. I also thought that people were overreacting and blowing the whole situation out of proportion. This pandemic has impacted my life a lot! It taught me that staying in contact with my close friends and family is extremely important, and it taught me more about how to stay organized. My parents were very anxious about the virus, and prioritized health over seeing others. At first I was upset, because I wasn’t used to not seeing my friends, but eventually, we all got to hangout and it was great. Although I have gotten the chance to see my friends, I haven’t had the opportunity to visit my family. Both of my grandparents live in New Jersey, and when my dad drove my sister and I there he stayed with his father. Some of my close cousins live in New Jersey, California, Canada, and Wisconsin, and unfortunately I have not seen them since months before the virus started. Summer 2020 I was planning on attending my 7 week summer camp, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Once the pandemic was at its peak, in early May, we got notified that camp was not going to be in session that year, which ruined my week. Then, my Bat Mitzvah was supposed to be on October 24, but was cancelled. I had been looking forward to this event since I was 5 and a half at my small Jewish school in Brooklyn, where I am from. Once I learned that it was cancelled I was absolutely crushed. Luckily, I had a small service, and two of my cousins came to surprise me! The rest of my family and friends watched the service digitally. Later, we went out to dinner in Miami, and although dinner is not as special as a party, it was still nice to reunite with my friends. My dad promised me we would do something special after the pandemic, since I couldn’t have the celebration that I had been looking forward to. Another event happened to a bunch of my friends. In December, I turned 13, but a majority of my friends had already turned 13 because I’m the youngest of the group.  I was planning on perhaps having a small party somewhere, but that was not what happened. I went kayaking with my friend, Makenzie, the day before my birthday, and it was very tiring. Before the pandemic started, I was very accustomed to hanging out with my friends every weekend. When the virus first began, it was a big change. I was not used to not seeing others. I started  FaceTiming my friends every single night, but it still wasn’t the same as seeing them in real life. It was about five months after the pandemic hit until I was able to spend time with my good friends. During the first few months in quarantine, I became friends with new people! It was great to branch out and meet new people. Everyone needs to surround themselves with company, whether it’s being  together physically or just calling over the phone. This pandemic has also taught me much more about sanitation. I’ve always washed my hands and stuff like that, but I never really realized how important it is to use hand sanitizer whenever you leave and enter a store/someone’s house. Although this pandemic has put everyone’s lives on pause, their have been some benefits that have emerged from it.
