Basic Research is defined as research that seeks to expand out understanding of psychological phenomena even if such knowledge does not lead directly to any practical benefits.&nbsp; Surprisingly, basic research is used in every day life. In a blog by Jamie Hale, <em>Understanding Research Methodology 5: Applied and Basic Research, </em>she says one example is the discovery of x-rays which led doctors to study bone fractures"(Hale).<br>-Citation: Hale, J. Applied research bases its foundation of taking the results of a scientific experiment and using it in real world situations.
