Type of Tourism : M.I.C.E : It stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Events which helps to attract a substantial number of tourists to an area.

(General Eg) According to the Singapore Tourism Board ( STB ), Singapore drew 3.2 million business travellers in 2012. These business travellers accounted for 24% of all visitors to Singapore for that year.

Singapore has hosted important meetings and events as a MICE destination. These includes the Youth Olympic Games in 2010 and the World Bank Group in 2006. More on Youth Olympics Games : Held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010, it was the first International Olympic Committee-sanctioned event held in Southeast Asia. The Games featured about 3,600 athletes aged 14–18 from 204 nations, who competed in 201 events in 26 sports.

Success:
Singapore is known for the availability of (i) reliable telecommunication networks and a (ii) Amenities - variety of shopping and entertainment options. Hence tourists are often engaged in events hold here such as the IT show and Singapore Motorshow.

*Pick one event that you have mentioned - would recc the Youth Olympics/IT Show 2019 and zoom into that as an example of MICE tourism. (Can you include the place where it was held in Singapore + stats - size of the area + accomodation + attendees)

The full Kumbh mela is held every 12 years, while an ardha (half) mela is held after about 6 years at the same site. The first KUMBH MELA was held in 1870. (Could you include the religious significance of this event?)

Opportunity: Visitors can be able to engage in various activities such as helicopter services, water sports and river cruise in the Kumbh Mela 2019 (I'm not sure how any of these are religious activities though :/)

Key Feature - happens when tourists travel to historical locations to experience different cultures and understand the history.
Opportunity - take pictures
Example - More than 7 million people visits the Eiffel Tower in France yearly. It is 300 m tall Also, it was constructed in 1889 to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution and to demonstrate France's industrial prowess to the world. (Hey kiddos, you can open a new tab and put this information under heritage tourism instead as we discussed this is not honeypot tourism. Do include another example for honeypot here instead.)
Honeypot example - Snowdonia is a National Park which is the highest mountain in England and Wales. Every year, 400000 people have visited the mountain to reach the top of the mountain. It has attractive lakes and scenery and there is a scenic railway ride up and down. It also has a shop and restaurant at the top.

Reasons for success: In the past, this usually referred to those who traveled from less-developed countries to major medical centers in highly developed countries for treatment unavailable at home. Nowadays medical tourism is common because of its affordability. The people can save up to 90 per cent if they travel for medical needs overseas even after paying for their travel tickets.
One example of medical tourism is in India. It is known for its affordable rates for treatments and surgeries . While 233,918 medical tourists went to India in 2015, this increased to 495,056 in 2017 and 427,014 in 2016.

(Doesn't really address what people can do here though)
An example is the military campaign in Cu Chi Tunnels, Vietnam. Tunnels were dug and used in the 1960s and 1970s by the Vietcong to hide from American forces who supported South Vietnam. The Vietcong was a Communist guerilla group in what was then known as South Vietnam.
