There should be either a urgent care or an emergency room in any town you would go to. Usually ER's are attached to a bigger hospital or stand as there own building. UC's are commonly found in store. " The Urgent Care Association of America estimates there are over 9,000 centers nationwide. Add to that over 1,500 retail clinics in chain stores like CVS, Walgreens, and Target. "(Section 8.2.) Either one of these options should be easy to locate in an emergency situation.

If you are in a dire situation where you or your loved one is in a life or limb threatening situation you should probably go to the ER. You should go to the UC when you have a situation that needs medical attention, but is much less serious. " The emergency department was designed to provide fast, lifeor-limb-saving care. Many people, however, use the ER as a place to receive urgent care without realizing it. If you’re ever in doubt, it’s better to be safe and go to the closest ER. "(Section 8.2).

Over spring break I had been sick. We think with a bad cold. During Easter the next week, I started having a lot of pressure in my head and intense ear pain. We went to the urgent care because I needed help, but it was not life threatening. Turns out I had a double ear infection and a sinus infection from the cold I previously had. We had a good experience, the helped us quickly and gave me antibiotics to help get rid of the bacteria. " urgent care is an option for when appointments are unavailable or if you need treatment outside of office hours. "(Section 8.2). We went to urgent care because it was Easter and our PCP was not open.
