I felt the best way to demonstrate this dynamic would to be with a Padlet. Society's expectations/norms are presented entering the back of David's head, while his stress and shame are coming from the top of his head. His reaction, usually lies and repression, can be seen coming from his mouth. At the center of all of this however, is Giovanni's room. While reading the novel I interpreted the room as the inescapable internal conflict David was experiencing.
