We learned that there is a big importance in making legal agreements to protect your company from being sued and protect your companies financial stability. We can also learn that if you want to have an idea make sure to get a patent.

Many lessons that can be learned from The Social Network have to do with legal issues. In the law-suit that Mark had with the Winklevoss twins, the twins didn't protect there idea by making Mark sign a NDA and non-disclosure agreement. If the twins would have had him sign one, they could have had the law-suit be in there favor. Another lesson was to have a lawyer look over documents you have to sign, instead of just signing without having them reviewed. If Mark's best friend would have had a lawyer review the contracts he could have avoided having his share of Facebook diluted from above 30% to below 1%. This lessons shows that you shouldn't sign anything you don't know about without having a lawyer review it.

The Social Network teaches entrepreneurs and business partners many legal lessons on how to protect their ideas and money. Some of which are to get an NDA, a company layer is not your lawyer, always have written agreements with the people you are working with, and confidentiality. Getting an NDA (non-disclosure agreement) would prevent taking someone else's ideas. This would have helped the Winklevoss twins keep their ideas. Remembering that having your own lawyer is very important, a company's lawyer is looking after the company's interest not yours. Written agreements really help when you are first starting out. These can help you keep boundaries and not loose any of the company. Confidentiality can also help tremendously! Not releasing to much information can prevent people from stealing your ideas.

There are many legal lessons we can learn from The Social Network.
First of all, you should trust your partners, but you should also watch your back for them. In the movie, Mark subtracted more than 99% of Eduardo's pay. That is why you should always look at paperwork before you sign it. Eduardo and Mark were best friends.
It was also said that Mark stole the idea of Facebook from one of his friends. The idea was never patented and he never signed a contract saying that he would not copy the idea, so the rights were his to take the idea away. As he never used any lines of code that were used in his friends' website, it was all legal.
The only person you can really trust these days is your lawyer. When dealing with other people, you have to realize, its everyone for themselves. It's still okay to trust people somewhat but don't always entirely count on it. Always present a failsafe in case something goes wrong.

The Social Network taught many valuable lessons in life, more specifically, legal lessons. One of the man lessons it taught was how important contracts, and NDA's, (non-disclosure agreements) are. There were many issues and lawsuits that Facebook endured because of the lack of legal papers which brought confusion, lying, stealing, and lots of money lost. Entrepreneurs need to learn to have all legal issues discussed and signed before any action taking place. This will potentially save time, money, and lawsuits. Another valuable lesson The Social Network taught is how important lawyers are. Lawyers are essentially your best friend in these cases and no matter should be discussed without one being present. Eduardo's equity in the company went from 30% to less than 1%. This cost him billions of dollars and if there were lawyers present, this would all be avoided.

We are shown how money corrupts the young entrepreneurs and how they failed to safeguard their positions in the company. A simple partnership agreement would have solved the problem of Eduardo that led to his diluting share in the company.

As seen in the movie, if the Winklevoss twins had made Mark sign a Non-disclosure Act, they could have prevented the lawsuit and many other obstacles. In addition, we learned that lawyers are a lot more helpful than you think. They can review documents to prevent events as seen in the movie. Partnerships should be reinforced and thoroughly thought of before fully committing to it.

Also the importance of having the right to approve new partners. This is very important because if you let other people approve partners they could not be smart and not helpful to the team at all. Problems arise when the Winkelvoss twins and Divya Narendra tried to sue Mark Zuckerberg when Mark stole their idea. The twins do not make Mark sign a non-disclosure agreement, which would have prevented Mark from using that idea legally. Another problem arose when Mark brought a new partner on without the permission of his best friend. They should have signed a partnership agreement that could let them settle better terms. When Eduardo signed the contract to dilute his ownership percentage, he should have had an attorney read it first before he decided on signing it himself.

The Social Network contains various lessons that are prevalent in our society. The majority of these lessons come from a legal point of view. The major conflicts presented in the movie come as Zuckerburg strikes bad chords with his partners. This movie helps bring out the importance of various legal actions that should be taken in the establishment of any company.
The first lesson was that brought to light was the importance of non-disclosure agreements. These agreements make sure a person agrees to not to disclose ideas without everyone's permission (the problem the Winklevoss Twins and Zuckerburg). This helps protect your ideas and other people's also. Another important factor brought up was the importance of written partnerships and making sure you have rights to an opinion on new partners. This is what happened with Saverin and Zuckerburg. The articles also stressed the importance of having your own lawyer. The last and most important lesson was the mistake Saverin made with signing many contracts without reading them first. He didn't realize that the company's lawyers were not his own. This resulted in his interest being deducted to .03% from 30%.
Overall, this movie shows the importance of the legal process within developing a new company.

The Social Network teaches many lessons about avoiding dangers present in the entrepreneurial field. The first lesson was the importance of a NDA in order to protect your ideas when pitching them to potential partners. Next, a lot of conflict could have been avoided with a written partnership agreement. This would have prevented the misconduct from either parties as well as the deals made to undermine the other party's interests. Furthermore, the introduction of a new partner created a lot of conflict. One party did not want a new partner while the other party did. This could have been avoided if there was the right to approve or revoke new partnerships. The Social Network also teaches about having an attorney present during the signing of legal contracts. This can prevent any clauses made to undermine the interests of another party. Finally, just because someone is your best friend doesn't mean he won't put his interests first. It is important to have a lawyer present during legal agreements. All of these are important lessons that can be used to protect any young entrepreneur.

The Social Network takes the audience on the journey of the creation of Facebook and the legal issues that arise in its creation. These legal issues in the movie presented many lessons to learn when being an entrepreneur. The first lesson is the importance of confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements. One of the main lawsuits involved twin brothers and their friend. They sued Mark Zuckerberg for stealing their idea of social network for Harvard students called HavardConnections. They shared their idea of the website to Zuckerberg who in turn used their idea and made his own social network site. If they had made Zuckerberg sign a confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement, Zuckerberg would not have been able to share or take their idea. Another lesson is the importance of having the right to approve new partners. Zuckerberg appointed new partners without the permission of Eduardo. Ultimately, the new partner that Zuckerberg appointed helped take away Eduardo's interest in the company.
