In the beginning of the book Eli, friends, and family were put in small and large ghettos. Soon after, everyone was put into cattle cars and driven for days and nights to Auschwitz. After they arrive Elie and his father are separated at the 'selection' and they are never to see each other again. Elie was taken to the camp Buna where is forced to work all day while getting very small rations of food daily. Elie makes it out of the camps and

Persepolis is a memoir written by Marjane Satrapi. This book is about the experience Marji went through during the Islamic Revolution. in the beginning of the book Marji is very close in her faith, throughout, she slowly loses her faith and chooses to be more rebellious, even if it's risky. There are very strict rules that Marji must follow as a female under the Islamic regime. Marjane's uncle Anoosh was soon imprisoned under the rule of the Shah and is later executed. Marji doesn't completely know hwat is going on so her parents help her understand the problems their society is facing. At the end of this book, Marjane's parents are very worried about her rebellious behavior and are afraid of her causing and getting into trouble. Marjane was to be sent to a new school in Austria. The book ends with Marjane at the airport leaving for school and her parents leaving.

To Kill A Mockingbird is a story told through the eyes of one of the characters Scout Finch. Her father Atticus Finch is works as a lawyer and has high standards. Scout and her brother Jem and friend Dill are interested in the rumors they hear about Boo Radley. Boo Radley lives in the neighborhood but never leaves the house. The story is about Scouts father Atticus who tries to to prove the innocence of a black man who is being accused of rape. At this time there was a lot of racial tension going on also. The other big part of the book is when Boo Radley the neighbor who was never seen before saves Scout and her brother Jem from being killed. A memorable moment for me in this book is when Boo the never seen before neighbor saved Scout and Jem from being killed. I recommend this book because it's relevant to today in ways and, talks a lot about the past.

Thirteen Reasons Why written by Jay Asher is an interesting book about Hannah Baker a girl who commits suicide but leaves seven cassette tapes behind that explains why. This book gives you an insight on everything Hannah was going through and seeing how people can really affect one another without even noticing. A memorable scene would be when Hannah would meet up with Alex Standall and Jessica Davis her closest friends at the time at a local coffee house. They would meet up just to gossip and it was always interesting to see what they would talk about next. But soon nobody starts showing up anymore because of drama that starts damaging their friendship. Thirteen Reasons Why was the kind of book that made you want to read more and more which is always the best. I would recommend this book to people who would like an insight into a teens life and seeing how difficult it may be for some on a daily base.

Since You’ve Been Gone written by Morgan Matson is a book all about Emily Hughes the main character taking risks throughout the summer. Her best friend Slone disappears out of nowhere but leaves Emily a list of thirteen exciting but challenging things that she thinks Emily would never do. The most unforgettable thing about this book would be just seeing how Emily finally gets out of her shell of being shy into becoming brave. Even though Emily overthinks every decision she makes it helps us see how important her friendship is to her because maybe at the end of the list she will finally see Slone again. Since You’ve Been Gone is an entertaining summer book that people can relate to because it’s mainly about how friendships can fall apart but come back together. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for an interesting book but also to people that take small risk for something better in return.

This book isn't on the summer reading list. It started off with a girl named Renee and Lisa who are best friends and at this moment in the book they inseparable. One day the two friends goes to a party at some random club and the entire time Renee is there she can feel these set of eyes glued to her but whenever she looks up nobody is watching her. And she oddly liked the attention, before the night was over with she dancing in someones unfamiliar arms. She recently got out of a long relationship with a guy named Marcus, he really isn't an important character in the book. Anyways, freshly single Renee wasn't planning on being in another long term relationship so soon but DeAndre who goes by the name of Swing had other plans. Through the entire book Lisa would drop little hints as to why Renee shouldn't be with him, and from the beginning he knew he didn't like Lisa. Swing became so serious with Renee, the only other relationship he has been with is with his high school sweet heart, and without a proper goodbye he was still stuck on her. DeAndre became very protective of Renee, at first he would hide how he was feeling but now he's ready to tell it all. After having Lisa killed Renee still stuck with him. They made a beautiful son together and in Renee's eyes he was the most perfect guy she had ever met until its her time to actually feel the pain.

And Then There Were None is a story written by Agatha Christie which is a mysterious and thrilling. The story begins when ten characters get invited to a deserted island by a person they don't really know. They end up in a big mansion then are later told by a butler that an anonymous inviter will be on his way. The story ends by everyone being accused of crimes they never did and everyone was later murdered by the anonymous guest. The murderer later committed suicide and left a note behind. A memorable scene was when they were all having dinner and they were rudely interrupted when the P.A. came on which announced the crimes ten guest supposedly did. The speaker was not identified but it the killer. I approve of this book because it is a very good mystery which will constantly have you wanting to turn every page to read more and more. I recommend this to all mysterious readers.

Carrie is a book written by Stephen King. The story is kind of a horror mixed with thriller. The story begins with her starting her period in high school and she didnt know what it was or what to do. The girls in the locker room laughed at her and the gym teacher punished the girls who laughed. Later on, Carrie realizes she has telekinetic powers which she can use. One of the girls that laughed was plotting on getting revenge at Carrie for getting her in trouble who is named Chris. In the end, she used her telekinetic powers against Chris who kept trying to embarrass Carrie again. I would recommend this book for people who likes to read and watch the movie this is an excellent choice. Overall, I would have to say this book is great for teens and adults. A memorable seen was at the end when Chris tried to run over Carrie but she used her telekinetic powers to stop the car and move it to the air then proceeds to drop it. This book will make you want a sequel, I promise.

Icy Sparks is a story from Gwyn Hyman Rubio and is a sad novel that was award winning. The story sets out as a girl named Icy who grew up with her grandparents and was adopted by another family. The story is viewed from an adult point of view when she is starting to understand what Tourette Syndrome is. In the story, it explains how she was normal like any other child but at random times would have spasms, and croak like a frog. Nobody really cared about her problem not even her teacher but later Icy states she hides in the basement from her grandparents but they eventually find out. Memorable scenes must be when she finds Emily. Emily is another girl who also feels left alone and like no one cares. They soon become friends and they learn together to manage to accept themselves. Another memorable scene is when she finds out she can sing. This story is heartwarming because it shows not everyone is normal or the same, you should dig deeper down and find something in your inner self that will surprise you. I recommend this book to those who feel left out and is wanting to find a reason for life.

I Am Malala is the story of a young girl from Pakistan who fought for women's rights to education, which was taken away by the Taliban. She was born in 1997 and both of her parents were from Shangla. Her father was a teacher and he opened schools for both boys and girls. He encouraged Malala to go to school but when the Taliban came, everything changed. They told everyone to burn their books, CD's, and DVD's and to keep the girls away from schools but Malala did not listen. One day when Malala was coming home from school, her bus was stopped by the Taliban and they started shooting the girls. Malala was hit in the head and two other girls were hit. This only made her fight more. She was sent to England for many months to have surgery and recover from her wounds.

Purple Heart is a touching story about a solider named Matt Duffy who served in the Iraq War. Matt Duffy awakes in a hospital room in Iraq but has no recollection of any events that have taking place in the past few days. The last memory Matt can recall is when Matt and his combat crew were in a alley taking fire from hajis. While touring in Iraq Matt and a young Iraqi boy bloom a friendship, the problem is Matt remembers the young boy in the alley, but does not know what happened to the boy. Although Matt is in the hospital he must cope with haunting memories, terrifying flashbacks, and strong concerns for what happened to his loved ones. When Justin, a fellow combat crew member and friend, comes to visit Matt in the hospital it is obvious that Matt is frustrated about his situation. Matt is itching to know what happened but no one will tell him anything. I personally think this book is the best book I have read in a while, I would give it a ten out of ten.

Wicked is a novel that focuses on Elphaba, an outcast green-skinned girl who eventually becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. The novel takes place in the Land of Oz leading up to Dorothy's arrival, and is a commentary of the concept of good and evil. A memorable scene in the book is near the end, when Dorothy asks Elphaba for forgiveness for the murder of her sister. This scene is most memorable because it exploits Elphaba's built up anger from never being forgiven for her own "sins", and leads up to her eventual death. Personally, I enjoyed the book, however is was somewhat unnecessarily long, going into a lot of detail that I thought was unneeded. Overall, it was a great story and a wonder expansion on the Wizard of Oz lore and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Dodger tried to explain to many that the man was not evil, but was terrorized from the horrors of war, which showed that Dodger was actually a carrying person.

I would give this book a strong 4 stars, as the London setting was beautifully described and immersive, and the characters were quite interesting.

The Giver is based in the future in an utopia society. The story is based on a twelve year old boy named Jonah. In this book, the “ideal” world is dull and is based on a world of conformity and contentment. Kids, at the age of twelve, are prescribe with special drugs that makes them follow the rules and makes them emotionless. Also at the age of 12, they are assigned a job that best fits their criteria. Jobs are chosen by the community’s Elders. Jonah’s job, Receiver of Memory, leads him to discovering the dark secrets behind his community. My favorite part of the book is when Jonah realizes that things needed to change in his community and he began experimenting by missing his daily injections. He slowly recovers his emotions and tries to help his friends, who rejects his offer. He is left alone and tries to break the curse that society believes that would benefit everyone if they stayed emotionless. I like this book because I love Jonah’s determination and his will to help others. I recommend this book to anyone who is determine to stand up for what they believe in.

Persepolis is a graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi about her life in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. Throughout the book, Marjane shows her childhood up to when she is an adult living in Iran during and after the Islamic revolution. My favorite part of the book was when she meets Uncle Anoosh. Uncle Anoosh teaches Marjane about the world he fills her in about their family history. He told her stories about his experiences which she found to be entertaining and heroic. Marjane grows close to Uncle Anoosh, and it impacted her deeply when he was executed. It is my favorite part because I love how close the two were and I love how she looked up to him as a role model. I recommend this book to anyone who loves to learn about new cultures and is interested in the Islamic Revolution. This book has many symbolic meanings, humor quotes, and the story is filled with hope and chaos surrounding the war. I really like this book and I hope you enjoy it if you decide to read it.

He was thrown off a cliff into a lake, and almost drowned. Later in the book, Miles tackles him in a football game as revenge.

This was a book I was reluctant about reading, but turned out to be really good.
