This happened to me in 7th grade. I already had soccer, a painting class, piano lessons, and a club called KUNA, when someone asked me to join FFA. I had known this person for quite a while before and knew that he had quite a talent for pulling people into certain activities that they didn't really want to be a part of. At first, I thought if I said no to him it would hurt our friendship, so instead of just making up a generic excuse and putting it off 'till tomorrow, I decided to tell him that I just didn't want to join. This was a great lesson for me to learn, and I still use it whenever I'm stuck in a situation like this. It is especially important to know because if you say yes to every opportunity, you won't really be able to focus on any of them. In 6th grade, I had to give a speech as a project for my Language Arts class. I had already been chosen as one of the top 5 speakers in the Silver Team (half of the 6th grade), and I didn't even read over my speech that week because I was sick. I freaked out for a little bit, but eventually, I found that worrying beforehand will just make you more nervous. I ended up doing just fine and came in second place. I think the reason why I did so well was because I stayed calm, and didn't think about what would happen if I didn't do well. I remember when I tried out for the school soccer team in 7th grade. I had never played soccer on a team before, so I thought that I stuck out a little bit. However, once I started to kick the ball around, I started to have fun and even make some new friends. So get out there and try something new.
