         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Vowel: The letters a, e, i, o, and u represent vowel sounds, and letters w and y take on the characteristics of vowels when they appear in the final position in a word or syllable.&nbsp;<br><br>-Consonant: Letters other than a, e, i, o, and u generally represent consonant sounds. W and y have the characteristics of consonants when they appear in the initial position in a word syllable.&nbsp;<br><br>-Long Vowel Sound:&nbsp;A long vowel is a vowel is pronounced the same as the letter.  For example, the "U" is pronounced like "you" not like "a" which would be the sound of a shoert vowel. Sometimes a long vowel is combined with another vowel. <br><br>-CVCEe Spelling Platform: CVC Pattern. This is a pattern  that can be found in words such as cat, pop, and kid. A consonant is followed by a vowel, which is followed by another consonant t creat a syllable, usually with a short vowel sound. CVCe Pattern.</div>]]></description>
