i think this article has some very important information i have actually seen some of the behaviours and concerns it mentions as an ece when it talks about how some kids can seem well adjusted and intergrated but in reality they are seeking a reason for being they have a drive to belong that can prevent them from actually assimilating into a new family unit because they have such strong fears that they don't belong or fit in i also found it both suprising and unsuprising when it mentions how an inuit mental health worker reports that Inuit children often identify family as being more important than food Children sayingto him that if you have family

The main point of this article is to show that it is not appropriate to use one worldview of parenting and it goes on to prove this point when referring to the western ideals compared to the indigenous ideals of family. I agree with the content of the article and the various points that are made. I believe that there are a variety of different ways of viewing what a family consists of when it comes to different cultures. I also believe that Child Protection Services use only one way of defining a parenting relationship and this is the Mother-child attachment instead of looking at other ways of parenting and considering the different cultures and how they parent their children.

The Eurocentric way has been used as a broad sweeping method to decision making when it comes to the care and placement of children who are indigenous. These children have long been placed in non indigenous homes and this needs to change. A child loses part of their identity when they are taken from their culture and placed into a culture that is completely different from their own.

Cultural attachment theory needs to be the theory used when looking at the best interests of each and every child. A child should be raised in the culture that they are familiar with.
