The Russian Empire and the Empire of Japan. Both of these Empires had developed a rivarly for dominance in Korea and Manchuria. Meaning they both wanted imperialise both of these areas. Japan obliterated the Russian fleet. This helped the world realize that Japan was a threat and that the Czars in Russia would soon come to an end. This was the beginning of the end for the Czar Nicholas II. This showed just how weak the Russian military was and how weak of a leader the Czar was.

On Sunday, January 22, 1905, unarmed protesters were fired upon. The protesters were led by radical priest, Father Georgy Gapon in St. Petersburg. Imperial soldiers opened fire and killed and wounded hundreds of people. In response to the massacre, riots were showing up across the country.
Czar Nicholas Abolishes Duma- 1905

Nicholas II and the Duma are both envolved in this. The representatives in the Duma wanted to change the constitutional monarchy. But Nicholas did not agree with this because he did not want to share his power with others. This resulted in Czar Nicholas II abolishing Duma on October 30, 1905 in Russia, just 10 weeks of him making it. This is significant because during the February Revolution Nicholas made the Duma give the people what they wanted and only weeks later he abolished it. The people then got even angrier because of how bad of a leader he was. This is historically significant because that was the last time there was ver a Duma in Russia.

The February/ March Revolution was during the months of February and March in 1917. It was a workers strike and protest. The troops refused to break up the protest and they ended up joining in on it. Nicholas was away leading the Russian army in battle for food. This happend in Russia near St.Petersburg. The whole point of this was to get rid of the Czar because he was such a bad leader. Before it was an absolute monarchy and then after it was a demarchy.
