I have genuinely always been interested in teaching and working with younger children. Even when I was younger I would always have interest in leading and belong younger kids than me. Overall what really made my mind up has been my experience being a paraprofessional for adolescents ages 4-5. If I am being completely honest before going into this field of work I just wanted to work with younger children because they were adorable (obviously) but also seemed easier than the older adolescents. As I started working with younger children my interest in educating younger children changed. I realized young child educators really impact a child’s future. Young child educators are stepping stone for a child’s social emotional development. I became interested in wanting to help children develop emotional intelligence skills to ease their future relationships. I believe that we should be aware of diversity in the classroom at all times and be mindful that all of our students come to different backgrounds. It is most important to teach our students to treat each other with kindness regardless of our different backgrounds. You are going to be the main example to your students so it is best to be self aware of your actions. First and foremost, I need continued education. Since I want to go more into social work, I would need to get a degree in something similar.
