Put your names at the top.

Write a 1 sentence synopsis of your idea.

Then, address each allegorical elements (see other pad) and explain how your modern day conception of Plato's Cave addresses each allegorical element of the original allegory.

Identify Modern Themes:

Think about contemporary issues, ideologies, or societal norms that can be represented in the allegory. Consider technology, social media, politics, or cultural shifts.

Create Characters:

Develop characters that represent different aspects of modern society. Consider using archetypes to symbolize certain ideas or groups.

Craft the Setting:

Design the environment where the modern allegory will unfold. Consider how the setting reflects the conditions and influences the characters.

Define Shadows and Reality:

Determine what the shadows on the cave wall will represent in your allegory. This could be misinformation, societal expectations, or any other aspect that distorts reality.

Introduce Liberation:

Devise a way for the characters to experience liberation or enlightenment, mirroring the journey of the prisoners in Plato's cave.

Explore Enlightenment:

Delve into the process of enlightenment for the characters. What revelations do they have? How do they react to the truth?

Address Resistance:

Acknowledge the challenges and resistance the characters might face when exposed to the truth. This could involve societal backlash or personal struggles.

Incorporate Dialogue: give a general overview here of the concepts in the dialogue, but actual dialogue will be written on a google doc

Use dialogue to convey philosophical ideas and debates within the allegory. This can help engage your audience and deepen the exploration of concepts.

Explain the truths

Explain the truths as perceived by your captives, the truth as perceived by the liberated captive, and the overall truth of the allegory that you are trying to explain (ex. Plato's allegory is a construction of literary elements that demonstrate a need for enlightenment through education, for the goal of ideas in society)

10 . Conclude with Reflection:

Wrap up your allegory by allowing the characters to reflect on their newfound understanding. Consider the implications for both individuals and society.

The idea behind our allegory is a visual representation of how the public only perceives what high-up individuals allow them to and profit from it.

A man is peering through a keyhole. He is sneaking a look at what is going on behind the locked door. Behind the keyhole is war and sickness, at least that is all that the man can see. There is a box that contains war and sickness which has been stuck behind the door. This box has been set up by two wealthy individuals behind it. There are then two men who are wealthy trading money behind the box.

In this allegory, the man peering through the keyhole is the public. Thinking that they are getting the inside scoop of what is truly going on in the world. The keyhole is the mainstream media, a limitation that has been put on the public’s view to seeing the entire picture. The box containing sickness and war is what the elites want the public to see. Then the men behind the box are the elites trading money, profiting off of the fear and terror they push upon the public.

Sam: Writing the allegorical elements and explanations

Cade: Creating a visual representation

Caden: Writing the allegorical elements and explanations

The crowd thinks that the actors do all the work, and they don't see the workers behind the scene.

Contemporary themes are that the audience is judging the character they are playing rather than the actual person.

Our characters are the audience as the prisoners, the characters the actors play are the shadows, the actors are the puppets

The setting is the theater, it is dark and hard to see and it causes the audience to view the actors as something that they are clearly not based on their looks and what they seem to be presenting.

Our shadows are the characters, they are wearing costumes which make them appear a certain way, whether it is a murderer, or an investigator. Their costumes which are the shadows show that people's expectations of people are just based on looks and perspective.

The audience is going to receive liberation when the play is done when the director chooses one person from the crowd to come and meet everyone involved.

That is when that one person receives enlightenment and that you can’t just judge people based on what they appear to be like. and when the actors are done the director comes out and talks to the audience about each individual actor and it reveals to the audience who each of them are. .

The resistance from the audience is that they don’t want to have to change, and that it is easiest for them to live with just what they see and what things appear to be. They don’t want to have to dive deeper to discover the truth.

- “The director showed me all the actors in the back and they are not as they appear to be”

- “What are you talking about? We literally know how they act, We just watched a whole show about them

- "Ya but that isn’t who they actually are, we were just judging them based on what we had seen, we didn’t give them a chance and talk to them to see what they were actually like. A lot of them were really nice”

- ‘“I don’t believe you they didn’t appear to be nice in the show, I think you misunderstood everything”

- “That is true I mean they appeared to be a certain way so they must be like that.”

The truth of the liberated person is that you need to take the time to get to know people and you can’t judge based on looks or what you see first. The truth of the audience is that they only believe what they see to be true and believe that the truth should be noticeable. The truth and goal of this is that people are not always what they seem to appear as. We need to take the time to get to know people before we judge.

The reflection is that very few believed with what that person said about judgment. The person that was enlightened realized that judgment only causes conflict and it causes us to deceive ourselves and others. When they go and tell the audience they don’t change because they only want to believe in what they see or what they think they see.

Gracie: Creating Visual

Alayna: Writing

Arisyn: Writing

Kids now have any apps that they want watching any content they want.

Define Shadows and Reality:

The shadows are the phones and the app’s algorithms that are made to feed of interest, so the girls are swamped with fake images of people on socials. Makeup-caked faces

Reality is that the influencers are doing anything for views, and they are posting content that has been edited heavily with massive amounts of fakeness.

Introduce Liberation:

Making an age limit to apps that have scientifically proven to alter the way people think about life and about themselves. If apps like tik tok and snapchat have age limits, then little girls will grow up being themselves rather than molding themselves into what they see on their socials

Explore Enlightenment:

The people that are “influencing” the world aren’t really as perfect as them seem. They put on a face to seem all put together but the reality is that they have insecurities they hind behind a screen with. No body is perfect, you will never achieve the perfect look because it will never be enough, you will keep seeking more and more. Just accept that God made you how he wanted and you are made in His image, you should’t worry about being someone that your not just to impress others

Address Resistance:

They like being surrounded with pretty people doing whatever they want. They think its cool to have these “adultish” apps and they feel older when they use makeup and get their nails done and waste money on expensive clothes designed for teens/young adults. They want to fit in with the influencers, rather than become who they actually are, they are content to fitting a mold.

Incorporate Dialogue:

1. “Did you know that all the influencers arent perfect??’’ I saw a tik tok of them all being exposed

2. No I dont believe you they are all perfect, that must of been fake, I hope I can be like them one day

1. No in the video they were all crying and talking about how terrible their lives are

2. I don’t believe you, They have perfect lives and we have to keep working on ourselves to be accepted into a society like that

1. I don’t think people are as perfect as we think, we worship them and spend tons of money on products to look like them, but I dont really think its worth it

2. Yes it is, We need to feel good about ourselves and keep watching their videos to be the best, pretties, preppy version of us, lets go buy some more lululemon

1. Your right I guess we just need to keep doing what they are doing to keep feeling better about ourselves

Explain the Truths:

The truth that is perceived by the captives is that everything they see on social media is true and real, rather than edited and fake. The truth percieved by the liberated captive is that people are only posting the good things in life, and editing everything about themselves. The liberated captive sees the truth behind the lies on social media. The overall truth is that social media, when used at the wrong age, can have a huge negative impact on girls. Too many girls have been affected by social media and they are causing harm to themselves and others.

Conclude with Reflection:

The people in the cave are trying to convince the girl that saw the video about the influencers and all of their issues that they girl didnt know existed. The Influencers got revealed as not being perfect. When the girl goes back to the cave she tries to convince her friends that they dont have to be perfect to be accepted by society, but her friends don’t believe her and the girl goes back to her unhealthy habits of hiding behind a screen.

synopsis- took the theme of Plato's cave and transformed it to represent the grip of the catholic church on its congregation

the contemporary theme is the grip of the catholic religion and church and their false gospel that has gripped their congregation

our characters are the congregation of the catholic church as the prisoners the priests and bishops of the catholic church as the puppet-holder

the main setting much like inside of the cave is inside of the catholic church, but then we have outside of there where the ones who escape can figure out the true gospel.

Our shadows are the false teaching of the priests and the popes that Good works are necessary to go to heaven and are a part of the gospel Faith+works

the characters can experience liberation from the Cave (in our case the church) by reading the bible for themselves to see the true gospel and word of God

the process of enlightenment starts when a person starts to read the gospels for themselves and as they read they realize that what they have been taught is a lie and how tragically wrong the catholic church is hopefully causing them to find true faith and belief.

the resistance for the character is clearly that they now no longer trust the church and then receive backlash from the pop and the priests and are being attacked for finding true salvation they also might have a problem coming to grip with this truth

dialogue could look mainly internally as the person struggles in a man vs self way trying to grip what he has found and separate himself from the church he was a part of to grow in his new true faith.

The truth that is perceived by our captives is the truth being told to them by the pope, which is the false gospel of faith + works, the true truth that then gets perceived by a captive is of the true gospel and faith alone in Christ alone through grace alone. so the overall truth we are trying to display is that false gospels ultimately lead to hell and are in a sense run by the devil there is only one true gospel that saves.

the reflection of one of the individuals is that they come to true faith and salvation that is found in Christ alone, however, the other individual forgets that he read the bible for himself fearing that he may have just interpreted something wrongly and decided to place his faith in the false gospel because he has trusted man to tell him what to do.

Levi- Idea and explanation on padlet

Cason- Tech management and visual/ pictorial artist

After discovering the true purpose of a war and attempting to spread the information, he is dismissed by his superiors and accused of treason.

An officer finally catches an arms dealer he'd been tracking for years, however as he finally got to the bottom of it all, he found that his own superiors were suppling the dealer. And after even more digging, he found more and more evidence against his superiors. While attempting to expose everyone, he turned to the media, however he was quickly censored, drowned out, and before he knew it he was behind bars, and forced to take an oath that he would never share his findings, or be executed for treason. In response, in order to save his own life, he accepts the oath and all of his work went unnoticed, and the arms dealer was released to continue his work.

A military prison with the man and his superior.

Our shadows represent how your expectations can be false when most unexpected.

The liberation aspect of this is the detective beginning to understand the true nature of this case, however as he tried to wrap his mind around it and after digging a little too far, his superiors caught on and shut him down before he was able to continue. And before he could even spread his findings and expose the truth, he was put under oath and forced to never speak of it again.

The enlightenment aspect is that he now knows something deeply wrong is happening in the higher levels of the agency he worked for, however he will never know how far it went.

The resistance they may face is present through the monumental task of going through all the work to find evidence for his claims while also worrying about the future of not just his career but also his life as a whole.

From this story the seasoned detective encountered a case where his superiors had let the dealer go, however instead of listening he insisted on changing it and doing the right thing. However his superiors dragged him down and forced him to conform, showing that what he thought he stood for was indeed corrupted to the core.

Not everything you stand for will stand up for you, even if everything for the longest time may seem like it does, the world is corrupted and can easily stab you in the back.

Regardless of where you stand, always check the foundation upon which you are standing, as proven by this detective who had stumbled because of his superiors’ errors.

Citizens do not see the hidden truth behind politicians, as well as what their motives are, and who controls them.

1. In today’s society we don’t see behind the scenes within politics.

2.We have the audience who only sees what the politician puts out. Next is the politician who is controlled by our third character which are the funders who are pulling the strings. Lastly is the man who finds the truth after seeing the whole picture.

3.The audience is sitting out in front of a stage. There is a podium on stage where the politician stands. There are also posters that have claims from the politician. Next there are rafters above the politician, behind stage, where they puppet the politician. Lastly there is a man going through a door backstage, trying to find the truth, while also being pulled back in order to hide the truth from society.

4.the shadows will be represented by the politician, and the posters that claim one thing, but aren’t the true reality of what’s going on.

5.there is s door on the side of the stage, which leads to the truth backstage, however there are people pulling him back.

6.The person has opened the door and sees what’s happening backstage. But people are trying to prevent him from seeing it.

7.the people(society and the funders) don’t want the guy to see what’s going on backstage. He is being pulled back to the other side. He doesn’t know what to believe because people are calling him a lier.

8.The guy being pulled back is trying to spread the truth, but the people pulling him are calling him a liar. The politician is saying something that isn’t the complete truth. The posters are also conveying a false truth. They are conveying what the funders want the people to hear.

9.The truth that’s seen by the audience is a limited truth that only shares what the funders want the audience to hear. The man going backstage is trying to spread what the real truth of what’s happening backstage. However the man going backstage sees the truth of what’s going on, and. how the politician is being controlled by the funders. The overall truth is that there are people trying to hide the truth of what the funders want from the politician, while the rest of society pushes back against them calling them a liar.

10.After the man sees the truth the funders are pulling him back calling him a liar. The audience sees this and is tricked into thinking the man was just a liar.

Peter-illustration, planning, writing

Jacob-illustration, planning, writing

The prisoners are like young children who are constantly being shown

Identify modern themes: our modern theme has to do with social media and the negative effects that it can have on young children, especially those who are easily influenced

Create characters: characters include the “celebrities” on social media influencing the young kids who are often on the phone. The children grow up in a world where they are always being influenced by these celebrities and growing up much too quickly.

Craft the setting: the setting revolves around the “life” that these influencers are creating on their accounts, these “lives” that these creators are crafting are putting these views onto these children that are so easily influenced.

Define the shadows and reality: the shadows are the influencers on social media posts, making it seem perfect and even trying to influence their views and the young children. These children grow up thinking that they have to act a certain way or dress a certain way when in reality they should just be themselves and not let the influencers of social media decide how they should dress and act.

Introduce liberation: the person holding the sign that says put your phone down in front of the doorway is the introduction of liberation. This person is holding that sign to stop everyone from looking at their phones and absorbing the false information that is being sold. Instead of taking in the wrong information on the phones they are guiding you to the real truth that not everything you see on the internet is true. They are in front of the door because that is exciting to reality.

Explore enlightenment: When people finally break free from the influence of social media only then can they see that there are more things in life than the internet holds. They can find things that are much more awesome and hold much more value than the things on the internet

Address resistance: this happens when someone takes the time to see that things you see on the internet are photoshopped and edited to someone else's opinion. Once they see that most of what they see on the internet is fake then they will make the change to what they believe in instead of what the world tells them to believe.

Incorporate dialogue: this would be the sign that the woman is held. This sign says “Put your phone down” because most people spend too much time on the internet and forget about what is happening in the world.

Explain the truth: not everything on social media is what it seems. All of the time social media influencers only post what they WANT you to see. Everything that you see on social media isn’t always “real”. People post to make them look good and make people feel bad for them or their profit. Very rarely do social media influencers

Conclude with reflection: we should not let the internet influence our everyday decisions. From looks to action we should stop listening to the internet make the decisions for us

Dialogue: It's a challenge to disconnect from the internet, especially when so much of our daily lives revolve around it. I can understand how someone might feel compelled to stay online, even if they recognize that not everything they see is accurate. It's tough to be the only one who's not glued to their phone, especially when everyone else seems so absorbed in their screens.

Avaree, joy: writing

joy, Tricia, creating and brainstorm

The fortniters are taking over and not going outside

In today's society people are going outside less and less because of new technology. It is making people stop enjoying the outdoors.

We have the gamers who are playing fortnite, and the guy who has discovered something none of them have and he loves it, this is the outdoors.

The setting is in someones house on the couch, and then outdoors where the one man has gone and discovered. The house represents the cave in which the prisoners are stuck in. they are prisoners to their video games.

The shadows are fortnite because it keeps them entertained, all they have ever known is fortnite. In reality, there is outside but they have never explored enough to know about it.

The liberation is when Dominic explores outdoors and sees freedom for the first time. He has done what none of them have done and they don't believe it.

One of the Fortnite players goes outside and realizes how amazing it really is. He sees the beauty of the real world and goes to tell his friends about it.

When the enlightened Fortnite player comes back, he is attacked by the other fortnite players because they don't want to know anything other than fortnite. This is evident in real life too when you want to do other things but your friends all keep trying ro get you to play video games together and don't want to do anything else.

There is dialogue throughout the allegory between the characters. The story is covering the widespread video game addiction in our world and how it keeps kids from enjoying the real world.

Not everything in this world is online. There are many things to be seen and experienced that a lot of kids don't get to see because they are too wrapped up into video games and the internet. They never get to experience the things of the real world.

We should start to shift the view on video games for young children. Sometimes it is an easier parenting approach to just let your kids play video games instead of actually parenting and that needs to change. We are clouding the worldview of our youth and they are going to grow up lazy and inexperienced leading to failure in the real world.

Luke- Acting and filming

Chase- Acting and filming

Dominic-Acting

Max-Acting and editing
