Equality alone means to treat everyone the same and give equal resources to their success, this leaves major gaps of regarding people's "difficulties" which can be represented in someone's race, gender, sexual orientation, physical disabilities, migration status, etc. Equity focuses on treating people to their specific needs. 
Equality is implying that we all have the same background/ starting point when that is simply not the case.
