Data was not analyzed for sex and gender differences until 1993, when the National Institute of Health Revitalization Act was passed. The federal law made it mandatory for women to be included in clinical research for new drugs, and the results had to be sorted out by sex. Further, in 1998, the FDA ruled that information from drug makers on the safety and effectiveness of new drugs had to specifically look at gender.

The women’s suffrage movement was a decades-long fight to win the right to vote for women in the United States. But after years of protesting/riots on August 19 1920 the 19th amendment was ratified. For the first time in history women had the same rights as a men.

Birth control (BC) for women was legalized on June 7th 1965 but only in some states. Estelle Griswold was a planned parenthood of Connecticut’s director. She opened up a health center that provided birth control,she later got arrested for this act. Estelles case went all the way up to Supreme Court, which was ruled in 1965 that birth control was legal for married women.
