The way that people are raised, what they are told, and the obstacles they face within themselves and their family plays a big role on what type of person they become and raise their family. Also how a sense of masculinity means that they cannot be “weak” and show emotions. Similarly Okonkwo was raised by a father who borrowed many things from people and owed debt before he passed away. Okonkwo resented him for that causing him to have hatred for him and causing the way he raised his children and treated his wives. Instead of expressing his feelings and emotions he turned to violence.
