It is important to consider different perspectives because bias can differ between perspectives, and hearing many sides can be very beneficial to learning about the truth. In the first article, “Israeli forces seize the Gaza side of Rafah, as Hamas truce talks resume in Egypt”, it talks about how Israel was using violence to obtain Palestinian land, “Israeli airstrikes have been pounding Rafah for weeks, killing hundreds there since late March, most of them women and children, according to hospital records.” (Batrawy). This article is biased in favor of Palestine, and uses accusatory words to create a certain image for Israel. The second article, “A Satellite View of Israel’s New Front in Gaza”, however, says that Israel was using armed vehicles to make a “critical getaway” from the conflict arising between the two countries (Leatherby). These two conflicting perspectives are beneficial to look at because it gives a sense of what each country is experiencing. There are also articles that have little to no bias on a conflict, and are targeted at readers who simply want to learn more about conflict without any biased ideology. The article, “Experts give 2 perspectives on accusations Israel is committing genocide in Gaza” give both sides of perspective credit by putting in direct quotes from conflicting perspectives and making sure both sides are heard. It is extremely valuable and important to understand both sides of a conflict, making sure that bias can be recognized and read with caution.
