The reader is positioned to believe that drinking and driving under the influence of alcohol is the wrong thing to do as John did this and died. It is represented through many ways; "John had a few beers, but thought he wasn't too drunk to drive". This shows that he drove while under the influence of alcohol when he shouldn't have. This would be considered as a children's book as it is showing that drinking and driving is the wrong thing to do as there are consequences to face as extreme as death. Mr, Mrs Collins and Tally Ho, went up north to Dampier. Tally Ho kept dropping bombs in the car and the Collins decided to put Tally Ho at the back of the trailer. When they arrived to Dampier  the Collins checked on Tally Ho. Tally Ho was found covered in the red, thick sand and dust.

Maureen suggests to go to the beach because she fancied the idea of having the house to herself for just a little while. Meanwhile, Tally Ho (Red dog) and Jack went to the beach which had a beautiful view of the Dampier Archipelago. And Red Dog caused great embarrassment to Jack, as he stole many stranger’s food.
