I had always been a huge fan of electronic music, having listened to artists such as Skrillex, Daft Punk, and Noisia. Still, Virtual Riot inspired and influenced me to want to be an electronic music producer. Listening to his music always left me energized and mind-blown with his creative range in Electronic Music Production. I really enjoy how he combines genre elements and genre transitions from Trap, Future Bass, D&B, and Dubstep. I have used many of Virtual Riot’s tracks as reference tracks in my own music.

My interest in hip/hop began when I was fourteen, having listened to the song Feel Good Inc. by the Gorillaz. I never understood the lyrics at the time, but I certainly felt the emotion and groove through the music itself. The Bass line of that song caught my attention the most and was one of the first songs I learned to play the bass, drums, and guitar parts from start to finish. Gorillaz being the virtual band it was, influenced me when start my own hip/hop group that also combined music, animations, and even the culture.

Moe Shop is another Artist that I enjoy and take inspiration from with some of my synth designs and production techniques. I admire their style of mixing Japanese, Electro, Dance, and Funk. The glitchy synths. Most of the Moe Shop’s Songs showcase a lot of Anime culture and references, which I find quite exciting. Moe Shop music was able to influence me in learning and using vocal and piano chops in my music. It also influenced me to learn more about funk music.

The style of Virtual Riot's sound is heavily influenced by Dubstep, Drum, bass, and trap music. According to information from PIANITY, It is also known that Virtual Riot has cited Skrillex as an influence on his sound(Pianity, 2014). It's very easy to see the similarities between Virtual Riot and Skrillex when comparing their songs. Especially Skrillex's song "Scary Monsters and Nice Spirits" with Virtual Riot's Energy Drink. A book called " The creative electronic music producer", by Thomas Brett goes on about Virtual Riots Advance Sound Design and mentions how influential Virtual Riot was to his fans and how they left comments of praise on Virtual Riot's production Skills. Brett talks about a Podcast with Mr. Bill and Kill The Noise(Bill, 2020) discussing how Virtual Riot's sound design with Serum sculpting and an entire generation of Post-Skrillex Dubstep producers(Brett, 2021,p75).

House is basically the main genre Moe Shop songs fall under. An article on Korg's website mentions an interview talking about how House Music was another major influence on Moe Shop as it was one of the genres that their parents were into and they grew up listening to that kind of music (Korg, 2021). Due to their parent's influence, they were introduced to artists like Daft Punk and Mr Ozio who were some of the artists that contributed to sparking Moe Shop's desire to create music. Moe Shop even went on to say that genre's like Complextro, Electro- house, and Nu- Disco was the root of his style with the added mix of Bass sounds(Korg, 2021).

Anime is definitely the biggest Influence on Moe Shop as all of their songs either contain anime references or feature popular Japanese artists that make anime songs. The article from Korg regarding Moe Shop's Interview mentions how they were into Anime as a teenager because they discovered many Japanese songs and artists further influencing Moe Shop's style(Korg, 2021). If you take a listen to the lyrics of Moe Shop's song "Love Taste" the song is basically about the inner thoughts of a Yandere which is a commonly used Anime cliché that involves a girl who is obsessed with someone and would use violence to make that person(Love Taste, 2016).

The Interview also stated that Earth, Wind, and Fire were one of the artists they listened to while growing up as their parents were into House and Funk music. Moe Shop's music is heavily Influenced by Funk. A good example of that is their first Main EP "Pure Pure" which was released in 2015 and featured a song called "you look so good" which was quite popular and was also used as intro music for the YouTuber "LeafyIsHere" (hatena, 2018).

Damon Albarn is the main reason that Gorillaz exists today and is the voice/singer of 2D from Gorillaz. He was Blur's lead singer and cause of that had the opportunity to travel and hear music around the world. In his interview with Wired, he mentioned one of the songs on the album "Demon Days" having reggae-infused Latin elements with a Glen-Campbell-style orchestra at the end(Gorillaz | Wired – July 2005, 2013). His Influence on Gorillaz involves making a virtual band that can't be defined by a genre and a band that rejects the idea of Idols. Damon Albarn along with co-founder Jamie Hewlett came up with the name "Gorillaz" cause they were both born in 1968 which was the year of the monkey(Gorillaz, 2018).

Jamie Hewlett, one of the Co-founders Of Gorillaz said that he took a lot of Influence from Studio Ghibli, which was a well-reputed animation studio that made films like Spirited Away and Castle In The Sky(Gorillaz | Wired – July 2005, 2013). Jamie Hewlett called it the Japanese version of Disney. Jamie Hewlett further explains how Studio Ghibli makes beautiful films that are a bit dark and wanted his animations with Gorillaz to turn out the same way(Gorillaz | Wired – July 2005, 2013. I saw a post on Reddit mentioning a Catbus reference in the "On Melancholy Hill!" music video. Catbus is a character from the movie "My Neighbor Totoro" which is another film by Studio Ghibli(Gorillaz, 2010,1:55).
In fact, Jamie Hewlett also said "The coolest thing is that kids are catching the references we put in the music and the visuals, and then they’re going out to learn about the original pieces of culture we were inspired by"(Gorillaz | Wired – July 2005, 2013). This statement in his interview makes him agree with the Reddit post regarding the possibility of the music video containing the Catbus reference from Studio Ghibli.

The idea of Gorillaz came when Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett were watching television and got fed up with MTV's lack of substance thus coming up with the idea to form a Virtual Band as a comment to that. Jamie Hewlett's said, "If you watch MTV for too long, it's a bit like hell, there's nothing of substance there. So we got this idea for a virtual band, something that would be a comment on that"(The HollyHobs, 2021,1:02). Damon Albarn also mentioned that everything on MTV seems so Manufactured and they both agreed to make a manufactured band but interesting(Gorillaz, 2018).

He would also speak about other games he played when he was younger like Portal and Half-life and mentioned how those games had a lot of influence on him. He also mentioned one German game called Aquanox that had dystopian cyberpunk-like soundtracks with distorted 303s with "trashy drums" which he enjoyed and heavily influenced him (Auto-Tune® / Antares Audio Technologies, 2022,11:09). Virtual Riot a song called boss fight that is a great example of this influence delivering a 2D game vibe mixed with dubstep which sounds energetic and exciting(Bossfight Afterparty, 2022).
