The process of impeachment is first

the House of representatives decide to proceed

with the impeachment. If they do, the chairman will

propose a resolution calling for the judiciary committee

to begin a formal inquiry. Then send the full house

stating the impeachment is warrant and will debate and

vote for it or against it.

pass bills of attainder, which punish individuals outside of the court system.
suspend the writ of habeas corpus, a court order requiring the federal government to charge individuals arrested for crimes. Congress can only suspend the writ of habeas corpus during times of national emergency.
