The Roanoke settlement, led by Sir Walter Raleigh in the late 1500s, faced challenges, prompting the settlers to return to England. A second group arrived in 1587, but when supplies ran low, Governor John White went back to England for help and couldn't return until 1590. To his surprise, the settlement was deserted, with only "Croatoan" carved on a post. The fate of the "Lost Colony" remains a historical mystery, sparking various theories about what happened to the settlers.

King Philip's War, occurring from 1675 to 1678 in colonial New England, was a major conflict between Native American tribes led by King Philip (Metacomet) and English colonists. Land disputes and cultural clashes fueled tensions. The war led to significant losses on both sides, with Native villages destroyed and English settlements attacked. Although the colonists emerged victorious, the war had a lasting impact on Native-American and European settler relations, shaping colonial policies and changing the region's demographics and politics.

Bacon's Rebellion happened in 1676 in colonial Virginia and was led by Nathaniel Bacon. It started because frontiersmen were upset that the government wasn't protecting them from Native American attacks. Bacon and his followers rebelled against Governor William Berkeley, burning Jamestown. After Bacon died, the rebellion lost steam, and Berkeley regained control. This event led to the elite trying to divide lower-class groups, making racial and social differences more pronounced.
