The conversion of Saul of Tarsus was very significant as God shone a bright light at him on the road to Damascus which blinded Saul for 3 days. This is where Saul decided to change his name to Paul because he didn't want everyone to know him as a critic. This is where he started believing in God.

Paul’s third journey was the largest journey he did. On this journey, he revisited all of the Christian communities he had founded or written to. One of the groups he visited was at Ephesus. Here Paul preached against the worship of false gods. This enraged many of the local traders, especially the local silversmiths who made images of the local goddess, Armetis. Paul’s preaching was putting them out of business. There was also a riot where Paul and his friends had to face an angry mob.

In Paul’s thought, the justice of God was serving to redeem justice at its best. God is faithful and fulfilling the promises made in the agreement. God justifies, which means that it is God alone who reconciles humankind through Christ. People cannot justify themselves, but can only be justified by being united in faith with Jesus Christ and by accepting the grace won by Christ. Justification is not something that can be won by following the Law, but people can only be made right with God and set free from a life of dishonesty by accepting God’s reconciling grace as a free gift.

Because Paul was a Jew himself, this would have been difficult for him to speak the true Christian beliefs and values. Another challenge Paul came across was having to communicate with people from different countries. He may have come across these people whilst he was on his journey’s.

In Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he focusses on the importance of love in a person’s life. Paul states that love is the most important emotion of life and emphasises that without it, life is meaningless. Throughout this teaching, Paul gives examples of how positive love is and how it makes your life more meaningful. An example of this is that love doesn’t remember any past wrongs.
