The Salem Witch Trials were an example of mass hysteria and abuse of power. They were not just nor credible. The accusations were often based on a bid for power. For example, Thomas Putnam accuses Giles Corey of witchcraft and stands to gain his land, a clear conflict of interest. The evidence of witchcraft was based almost entirely upon circumstantial evidence, for example, Abigail accuses Elizabeth of trying to murder her and her justification for this is a poppet (doll) stuck with a needle that she happens to see Mary Warren with at the trial. Overall, the trials were a miscarriage of justice.

The Salem witch trials were an act of discrimination and abuse of ¨power¨ over the people. They were not credible in no way. An example of this is when Danforth arrested Corey for not giving answers to his questions. His arrest was biased on his personal interests about how Corey didn't give him a reply. The biased evidence of witch craft in the court was one sided, Abigail contentiously lied, she lied abut her leading the girls into the woods and during the ¨interrogation¨ Hathorne told Mary to fake faint the text says ¨Then can you pretend to faint now?¨,which made Parris join and say ¨: Why not? Now there are no spirits attacking you, for none in this room is
accused of witchcraft. So let you turn yourself cold now, let you pretend you are attacked now, let you faint. Faint!¨ Parris and Hathorne was trying to force Mary to pretend and faint to say they their was witchcraft involved. The Salem trials were unjust and not credible the trials were an act to spread mass hysteria and fear into the town folk and to gain more power.

I don't believe these trials were just and credible. I say this because you cant really trust Abigail because she will try to blame her doing on others and she keep secrets. Another reason it is incredible is because i feel as if Abigail has more power then Mary and i say this because earlier in the story she smacked the girl for her to listen to her and i haven't read bout Mary doing that and also her uncle is an reverend so they probably would listen to her over Mary ad they really don't have enough evidence to even have a trail besides a doll. These trials aren't just because Mary is the one in trouble but i feel as if Abigail should also be in trouble because of previous things she did.

I wouldn't say the Salem witch Trials was not credible nor just. The reason for that is because the accusations they had were based on Power. Okay For example, in the "Crucible" The Putnam's had accused nurse Rebecca of witchcraft, and that was only because of two reasons. The Putnam's had dealt with several loss and was only left with 1 child. Also, Putnam Was accused witch craft because he wanted to obtain land, and not only that in the play it shows that he actually accuse innocent peoples.

I think the Salem Witch Trials were example of abuse of power as well. They were also were not credible. I said it's not crediable because they are accusing someone of witchcraft when they don't exactly have "the evidence". The characters are not really fair and so was the trials. For example the text stated"No, old man, you have not hurt these people if they are of good conscience. But you must understand, sir, that a person is either with this court or he must be counted against it; there be no road between." I think this means that they are out to get people and wrongly accused something they didn't do.

The Salem Witch trials were not credible or just. They were harsh and completely abused any power they were given. All of the accused people were put in jail waiting to be hung because of someone else's greedy intentions. For example, in the text Abigail wanted Elizabeth Proctor dead because she was put out for having an affair with Elizabeth's husband. Abigail was so angry that she had Elizabeth accused of witchcraft and of trying to murder her by sticking needles in a poppet.

The Salem Witch Trials were not credible nor just. They had many unfair trials. Many people would be wrongly accused of witchcraft. Danforth says "No, old man, you have not hurt these people if they are of good conscience. But you must understand, sir, that a person is either with this court or he must be counted against it; there be no road between." I think what he is saying by this is that many people have been wrongly accused of something they did not do. On page 33, they were talking about Corey's third wife got taken away by just reading books. Corey says "It is my third wife, sir, and I never had no wife that be so taken with books, d‘y‘understand, sir, and I thought to find the cause of it, d‘y‘see, but it were no witch I blamed her for…I have broke charity with her."

The Salem Witch trials were not just credible it was more like using witch powers and imagination with harsh words as abuse. For example in the text Abigail blames Mrs. Proctor for being involved with witchcraft and she wanted her be dead because she had an affair with John Proctor. According to the play, it states that " ELIZABETH: Spoke or silent, a promise is surely made. And she may dote on it now-I am sure she does-and thinks to kill me, then to take my place. It is her dearest hope, John, I know it. There be a thousand names, why does she call mine? There be a
certain danger in calling such a name-I am no Goody Good that sleeps in ditches, nor Osburn drink and half-witted. She‘d dare not call out such a farmer‘s wife but there be monstrous profit in it. She thinks to take my place, John. PROCTOR: She cannot think it. ELIZABETH: John, have you ever shown her somewhat of contempt? She cannot pass you in the church but you will blush… PROCTOR: I may blush for my sin. ELIZABETH: I think she sees another meaning in that blush. PROCTOR: And what see you? What you see, Elizabeth.
ELIZABETH: I think you be somewhat ashamed, for I am there, and she so close." ( page 2 Miller) This explains that Abigail wanted Mrs. Proctor dead.

I think that the Salem Witch Trials weren't credible or just. i say this because of the harsh ways, meaning the unfair trials, the way they had people waiting in jail to be hung because of another persons crime. For example, in the text when Abigail wanted Elizabeth dead because she was put out, because she had an affair with Elizabeth husband. Abigail got to the point of madness she accused Elizabeth of witchcraft and also tried to murder/kill by sticking needles in this poppet she had. they used there powers way to much its like they didn't know what to do with all the power so when they did witchcraft the accused other then the people would get them and put them to trial although there was no hard stone evidence.

The Salem Witch trials were a series of unfair hearings and prosecutions of people that were accused of witchcraft. These trials weren't fair because most of the people were blindly blaming other people for their own sake. For example, in the passage, Betty says" ) I saw George Jacobs with the Devil! I saw Goody Howe with the Devil!". After she says this, Hale says that they are free and then after that, Betty still blames two more people with great relief. This shows how the people will blame anyone for their own sake. Another example of how the trials were unfair is when Martha was getting blamed for being a witch and Corey was not allowed to present any evidence in the court to try to prove that his wife was innocent. This shows how these trials were unfair and that the people that were controlling these courts did not allow other people to have say in the court.

The Salem Witch Trials were an example of many unfair trials. These trials were not just nor credible in any way. In the story "Witchcraft In Salem" the author stated "However, 20 people and 2 dogs were executed for the crime of witchcraft in Salem. One person was pressed to death under a pile of stones for refusing to testify." This is an example of unfairness. People were pressed to death for refusing to testify. Some of these people could have been innocent which is very unfair for them to be treated in this manner. Proctor stated "I... I have no witness and cannot prove it, except my word be taken. But I know the children‘s sickness had naught to do with witchcraft." This lets us know that this is not credible because there is no real evidence given. Overall, The Salem Witch Trials were not just nor credible. Many unfair trials and abuse of power towards many of the characters were displayed throughout both stories.

The Salem Witch trials were not credible , the trials were unfair. Itś crazy how just because someone dances they can be hung . Paragraph nine states, ¨20 people and 2 dogs were executed for the crime of witchcraft in Salem. One person was pressed to death under a pile of stones for refusing to testify.¨ That is a big example of how the trials were unfair. They crushed someone with stones just because they did not wanna testify. They also let someone else put there opinion in to determine someones life. For example if another person accused someone of being a witch they take there word. Paragraph 6 says , ¨ Anyone could attribute their misfortune to the sorcery of an accused person might help get an conviction.¨

Any birthmarks, warts, moles, or other blemishes were seen as possible portals through which Satan could enter a body" which is no real evidence so this is not credible to me.

The Salem Witch Trials were not credible because there is not enough evidence to find someone guilty of being a witch. Physical features such as blemishes, warts, and moles are not enough to accuse someone of being a witch as well them not being able to recite the Bible due to screaming and writhing girls. There is too much baseless evidence to fully justify calling them a witch and killing them for it. A lot of this evidence is mere coincidence like with the poppet having a needle stabbed into it in The Crucible. The lack of evidence is very apparent, but the supposed witches could do nothing about it and were subjected to unfair trials.

I believe that the Salem With trials were not credible. The trials and the punishments were unfair and people get accused of witchcraft over the littlest things. For example, one thing that people have to go through during trails is confession. Confession were the only way out most of the time. In the common lit assignment, it says "None of the confessors were executed." This quote explains that people who confess to doing witchcraft were not killed. In the Crucible reading, it also shows how confession were the only way out. It states on page 14, "You will confess yourself or I will take you out and whip you to your death, Tituba!" Tituba were accused of witchcraft by Abigail, and the only way for her not to be beaten to death were to confess.

In the story ¨Witchcraft In Salem¨ the author says ¨The motives of the young girls themselves can be questioned. In a society where women had no power¨ meaning even when women try to justify and plead not guilty they didnt have enough power to stand up for their own rights and justice. If anyone had the littlest things such as any birthmarks, warts or moles they were consider witchcraft without really knowing if they were the one with witchcraft.

The Salem Witch Trials were not credible because of the way people were accused of being a witch. In "Witchcraft in Salem", the author states in Paragraph 5 that "birthmarks, warts, moles, or other blemishes were seen as possible portals which Satan could enter a body". This is not a logical accusation for blaming someone of being a witch because that's just the way they were born. Birthmarks and blemishes are also very common on people, so they would have been accusing and killing hundreds of people for no reason. Another reason why the Salem Witch Trials aren't credible is because everyone would believe someone who accused a random person of being a witch. I know this because in the third paragraph the author states "Three townspeople, including Tituba, were named as witches. "Trials began as the girls began to name more and more community members." Random people were accused because the girls wanted to get out of the situation of being a witch themselves, so innocent people were hanged and killed.

I feel like the trails were not credible due to the evidence. When under pressure, of course you tend to forget or mess up on things, and that's why most messed up with reciting bible verses, and the Lord's Prayer. Also they judged by physical features, including birthmarks. That isn't fair, because we can't help where we have a birthmark, or scars, or anything along those lines. Having a testimony from a witness also isn't credible, because some people are very spiteful, and would accuse you of something just because they don't like you-- prime example, Abigail versus Mrs. Proctor. Spectral evidence is still a gamble, because how do you know if you really see a ghost? When you're looking for one, everything seems to be one. Finally, with the final confession, if all you have to do is confess to not be executed, no doubt about it, people are going to say they are a witch in order to be set free. With that being said, the trails were not credible.

The Salem Witch Trials were not credible I say that because they did not have any proof or evidence. It's almost like they abused the power they were being accused of it. They were taking innocent peoples lives abusing them for no reason. An example of them just taking innocent people and just accusing them if it is, " Any birthmarks, warts, moles, or other blemishes were seen as possible portals through which Satan could enter a body." They were targeting people with the power that they had, most of the people that was innocent was still found guilty.

The Salem witch trials were not credible because the proof and evidence they used did not really justify the reasoning for being accused of being a witch. The trials were strictly based on evidence that could not be credible and whether or not a person is trustworthy. For instance as we were reading today Danforth seems to believe Abigail's story because she is seen as a child. To him no child is seen as evil and that no child would ever lie in court about something so important. Most of the evidence they are using are very flawed. In the heat of the moment the girls just screamed names that came to their mind just to get out of trouble. Also if confessing gets you out of the trial than many people will confess to not face death even if they did not commit the crime. If you are scared and people are screaming around you then you will most likely say anything in order to get out of that situation and that is basically what people did. They say things that they know the judge wants to hear. In a moment of fear people will do anything and that is why the evidence is not trustworthy. For example Mary claimed she thought she saw spirits but only because the girls were screaming around her and talking about spirits. In result none of the evidence they use are credible.

The Salem Witch trails were not just and credible because when using natural features and reminding things is not really evidence to be counted in a court. Like it says in Witchcraft in Salem "Evidence admitted in such trials was of five types. First, the accused might be asked to pass a test, like reciting the Lord’s Prayer." they are reciting as evidence when not everyone can remember everything. Also in Witchcraft in Salem it says "Any birthmarks, warts, moles, or other blemishes were seen as possible portals through which Satan could enter a body." They are using features you are born with to use against you in court which is not good evidence because that would mean you were born with the devil.

Salem Witch trials were not credible. I say they were not credible because there was no actual verifications to indicate any witchcraft. One piece of evidence I have from the text is on page 38-41 when Danforth was asking Abigail if she had seen any poppets in Goody Proctors house. Is a reason of why I say Salem Witch trials are not credible because when Danforth was asking Abigail the questions he was not giving her a hard time as to when he was asking Corey for information. Therefore, I say in these trials they make any decision they want in which one they believe. Even though there be no proof they believe which ever one sounds more persuasive to them. My two examples prove that Salem Witch trials are not CREDIBLE at all.

I think that the Witch trials was not that credible. Many of the witch trails was unfair. The trials abuse their power over the people. An example of the unfair trails is when Danforth accused Corey for not answering his questions. Corey accused and arrested him biased oh his own interests and let his feelings cloud his judgement. There was evidence of witch craft in the court, that kind of seemed one sided, or at least not thoroughly looked at. Abigail lied throughout the whole trail. She lied about her walking the girls into the woods and during the interrogation. From the reading today we learned that Danforth seems to believe Abigail over Mary, just because of her age. The Salem Witch Trails were just plain unfair and not credible at all. The only thing that the trials did was spread mass hysteria into the town folk.

For example , in the Salem With Trials they would convict someone based off of word of mouth or if they had warts or blemishes they were born with . Not only that ,but in the Crucible they went by word of mouth as well , and they went off based of what everyone else was saying and doing .

In the Crucible, the girls would go in the woods and dance naked. It accused people that had nothing to do with it. I feel like that isn't fair at all we have no control over that.

The Salem Witch trials were not just or credible. According to the text "Witchcraft in Salem" the court used specific "evidence" to judge the accused one way was the confession which was if the accused threw themselves and promised repentance then they wouldn't be executed. This doesn't seem very practical since the accused could just lie and get away with it. In the play Elizabeth was suspected of witchcraft because of a poppet that was in her home. This seems pretty ridiculous seeing as it is just a doll and can't do anything to hurt someone.

Due to the evidence, I feel like the trails were not credible. You tend to forget or screw up on stuff while under pressure, of course, and that's why most of them mess about reciting bible verses and the Lord's Prayer. They're often judged by physical traits, including birthmarks. That's not fair, because where we have a birthmark or scars , we can't help that. The prosecutions were focused solely on facts that could not be reliable and whether or not an individual was trustworthy. For example, as we read today, Danforth seems to trust the story of Abigail because she is seen as a infant. For him, no child is seen as bad and no child will ever lie about anything so important in court. As a consequence, none of the facts used by them is reliable.

No, the Salem Witch Trials are not credible, because they would accuse anyone for being a witch for any little thing without proof. Based on what I read in paragraph 5 it states, " Any birthmarks, warts, moles, or other blemishes were seen as possible portals through which Satan could enter a body", a birthmark comes naturally so a birthmark shouldn't have anything to do with witchcraft. Also in the text it states, " 20 people and 2 dogs were executed for the crime of witchcraft in Salem. One person was pressed to death under a pile of stones for refusing to testify.", executing somebody just because they won't testify that they're a witch you shouldn't kill them because without any proof you can't just accuse them of doing witchcraft.
