This board provides interdisciplinary connections between World War II and the graphic novels that we will be reading. It will provide the background knowledge that students need to comprehend their novels and learn about this historical time period. These videos, articles, maps, and timelines will provide students with a historical, political, and economic understanding of World War II. I envision some of these resources being utilized as a webquest, some as whole class activities, and some as group or partner work. I want to support the students' emotional needs with the difficult topics such as death, violence, and The Holocaust tragedies. I also need to support them with the more challenging topics of the economic reasonings behind the Treaty of Versailles and the reason for the political changes in both Nazi Germany and the Japanese Internment camps. These resources will give me students a multimodal focus and understanding of World War II (while also simultaneously meeting their nonfiction reading standards!). This will help them understand the impact behind the various plot points in their graphic novels.
